Indonesia, 4749.959, RRI Makassar, Suawesi, 1049-1110, At tune in noted a weak signal revealing just music off and on between fading. At 1052 a female comments briefly in Indonesian Language. A few minutes of dead air or total fade out follows until 1056 when music is heard again but only for a moment or two. Noise smothers the signal enough to block any further details, but the carrier is still observed in the Excalibur's presentation. At 1100 music is heard again using AMS mode. [HCDX] Weak carrier on 9720 KHz
Unident, 9719.965, 1130-1145. Noted a very weak carrier on 9720 +- during the period. This frequency was active with Radio Victoria, Peru, a few years ago. Since Radio Victoria ceased broadcasting on 6020 KHz there hasn't been any activity on 9720KHz either. But there's always a possibility that the station will start broadcasting again? I don't know the actual history of this station, why it ceased broadcasting or if it's ever going to start up again?Today there was no audio heard here, just the carrier. (Chuck Bolland, October 9, 2013) Indonesia, 4749.884, RRI Makassar, Pres. 1145-1200, Noted a threshold signal here with some audio off and on, but basically just a carrier. (Chuck Bolland, October 9, 2013) MARIANA, Presumed, 15199.99, Radio Free Asia, 1155-1200, At tune in, noted ID in English as ... Radio Free Asia Then program went to music in Laotian language (presumed). At 1200, dead air broadcasted until a few minutes after 1200 when a broadcast continues in unknown language. Signal seemed weaker than the one prior to 1200, so it could be another station or the same one with a different antenna beam. Prior to 1200 however, the station was Radio Free Asia. Please note that country and language are both presumed. (Chuck Bolland, October 9, 2013) Unident 18075.555, 570 ORO, 1225-1231 Noted CW AM broadcast. Station calling CQ. Entire transmission was as follows: CQ CQ DE 570 ORO 570 ORO Then he repeats the calling to CQ. After a few seconds, 570 ORO calls CQ again. This continues until 1231 UTC. Signal was clear and strong. Nothing heard after 1232 UTC. Peru, 4809.983, Radio Logos, pres, 0945-1010, With a very weak signal, noted a steady period of music being broadcast here. Unfortunately, on the northside of the signal sets a signal that sounds like a FAX chopping away at Radio Logos' weak signal. Notching the interference out does not help much. Peru/Bolivia, 4809.985, Unident, 0035-0100, At tune in, noted a very weak signal with a male talking briefly. He was followed by a female (I think?) then music presented. Someone said this might be Peru, Radio Logos? The audio is very weak and in the noise, it's difficult to give any details that are certain. At 0051, ordinary Peruvian or Bolivian Huaynos type music with the flutes and singing. I can still see the signal using the Excalibur, but the audio is gone after 0100. However, that could be due to fading and not the station's schedule being terminated at 0100? Bolivia, 6134.829, Radio Santa Cruz, 0134-0145, Noted a male in rapid Spanish language talk as if he was describing some sort of sporting event. Probably football (soccer) judging from the tone etc. Not much of a signal due to the Voice of Russia on 6135 KHz in Portuguese now. So will give Radio Santa Cruz a poor for now.
