2014-04-10 Thread Charles
Indonesia, 4749.959, RRI Makassar, Suawesi, 1049-1110, At tune in noted a
weak signal revealing

just music off and on between fading. At 1052 a female comments briefly in
Indonesian Language.

A few minutes of dead air or total fade out follows until 1056 when music is
heard again but only

for a moment or two. Noise smothers the signal enough to block any further
details, but the

carrier is still observed in the Excalibur's presentation. At 1100 music
is heard again using

AMS mode. Previously LSB was helpful in hearing the signal. Finally by
1106 the signal seemed

to fade enough to discourage further monitoring. Overall it was threshold.

[HCDX] Weak carrier on 9720 KHz

2013-10-09 Thread Charles
Unident, 9719.965, 1130-1145. Noted a very weak carrier on 9720 +- during
the period. This frequency was active with Radio Victoria, Peru,

a few years ago. Since Radio Victoria ceased broadcasting on 6020 KHz there
hasn't been any activity on 9720KHz either. But there's always a

possibility that the station will start broadcasting again? I don't know
the

actual history of this station, why it ceased broadcasting or if it's ever

going to start up again?Today there was no audio heard here, just the
carrier. (Chuck Bolland, October 9, 2013)

Indonesia, 4749.884, RRI Makassar, Pres. 1145-1200, Noted a threshold
signal here with some audio off and on, but basically just a carrier.

MARIANA, Presumed, 15199.99, Radio Free Asia, 1155-1200, At tune in, noted
ID in English as ... Radio Free Asia Then program went to music in
Laotian language (presumed). At 1200, dead air broadcasted until a few
minutes after 1200 when a broadcast continues in unknown language. Signal
seemed weaker than the one prior to 1200, so it could be another station or
the same one with a different antenna beam. Prior to 1200 however, the
station was Radio Free Asia. Please note that country and language are both
presumed. (Chuck Bolland, October 9, 2013)

Bolivia, 6134.921, Radio Santa Cruz, 2350-2359, Initially noted a female in
Spanish Comments

over flute music. At 2356, she is joined my a male. These comments sound
like some sort

of instruction with numbers and technical words mentioned. At 2357 promos
presented. ... Radio

Santa Cruz... at 2359. Signal was poor to fair. (Chuck Bolland, April
19, 2013)

Bolivia, 6134.85, Radio Santa Cruz, 2335-2359, Noted a male in Spanish
language news. At 2337

promos or Ads presented. After a minute of that, the male returns with more
comments. He is

joined by a female at 2338. Signal was poor to fair. (Chuck Bolland, April
19, 2013)

Bolivia, 5952.478, Emisora Pio XII, 2339-2359, Buried in the noise, noted a
weak signal with

a male in Spanish comments here. Believe a female is present also
accompanying the male.

Signal is always at a threshold level under the noise. (Chuck Bolland,
April 19, 2013)

Peru, 5980.048, Radio Chaski, 2347-2359, Tent, Noted a very threshold signal
here with a

male and female in comments. Signal is very weak with noise and static
crashes. (Chuck

Bolland, April 19, 2013)

Peru, 5939.90, Radio Melodia, Tent 0001-0015, Have a signal here which
seems very far

away when the signal strength is consider. The signal is deep into the
noise and very threshold.

Can hear individuals making comments, but can't distinguish which language
precisely, but it

seems to be Spanish. At 0013 the signal improves just a little bit with a
female singing. (Chuck Bolland, April 20, 2013)

Bolivia, 4699.967, Radio San Miguel, 0018-0030, Another threshold signal,
but it's not often that I can

hear San Miguel anyway. Noted a male in Spanish language comments. Signal
was not steady,

but faded in and out whenever it felt like it. Here and there I heard music
too. Not worth spending

any time on this after 0030. (Chuck Bolland, April 20, 2013)

Bolivia, 4716.824, Radio Yura, 0024-0035, This is a toughie. Hear audio
periodically with a female

in Spanish comments for a minute then music heard. Signal is very fragile.
That is if I touch my nose,

it fades away (figurally/humorsly) speaking. (Chuck Bolland, April 20,
2013)

2012-09-19 Thread Charles
Bolivia, 6134.845, Radio Santa Cruz, 0005-0020, At tune in noted a female
in Spanish language comments. Signal was fair but very muffled making copy
of details difficult. She is joined by a male at 0010 briefly, then music
is hard just for a few seconds. The male continues talking. Signal was
fair. (Chuck Bolland, September 20, 2012)

Bolivia, 4699.997, Radio San Miguel, 0016-0025, Noted a threshold signal
here with audio heard briefly before it faded into the noise. At 0017 heard
additional audio of a male in Spanish language. Nothing heard after 0025.

(Chuck Bolland, September 20, 2012)

Peru, 4810.097, Radio Logos, 0030-0045, With the usual QRM blanking most
of the frequency, heard steady Peruvian type music. A notch

filter was necessary to pull out the music however. Signal never improved
beyond being threshold. (Chuck Bolland, September 20, 2012)

Bolivia, 4699.96, Radio San Miguel, 1000-1010, With a weak signal, heard ID

Peru, 4789.964, Radio Vision, pres, 1015-1030, Noted a religious spectacle

Here

Peru, 4810.07, Radio Logos, 1021-1035, Noted a weak signal here with music.
A

interfering signal on the high side causes a lot of trouble as the station
broadcasts

music. At 1027 the signal improves enough that the music is being heard
clearly.

However, no ID is presented between tunes. Signal was poor to fair.

2012-09-12 Thread Charles
Peru, 4790.00 Radio Vision, pres, 0918-0935, Tuned in to regular Huaynos
type music

until a minute went by (0919 UTC) and a female commented briefly in Spanish.

Unfortunately the signal was just a little to weak to catch the details of
her

comments. Before I could retune, music was continued with Huaynos music.

Although the signal was reasonably fair, it still was difficult to catch
details.

At 0930 more comments by a male using echo effect. Could not pull out

the details but it seemed like a religious program was in progress?

(Chuck Bolland, September 12, 2012)

Peru, 4810.010, Radio Lagos, 0935-0950, Just popped on the air with music,

[HCDX] Tuesday morning DX

2012-09-11 Thread Charles
Bolivia, 4699.944, Radio San Miguel, 0930-0945, Noted a threshold signal
here of

music and Spanish recorded comments such as promos. Signal was too weak
for

me to glean any details, but at 0937 UTC it seemed to be improving slightly.
Not

enough to copy however. Back to music at 0938. (Chuck Bolland, September
14, 2012)

Peru, 5039.20, Radio Libertad, 0955-1005, Noted a fairly weak signal with
music and

Spanish comments and promos by a male which seemed to be recorded. Signal
was

rather weak not showing on the waterfall display but the audio was
threshold. (Chuck

Bolland, September 14, 2012)

Peru, 4774.978, Radio Tarma, 1004-1020, At tune in, noted a male with
promos followed

by typical Huaynos music. Signal went from a fair to poor by 1013, but
still audible for

awhile. Rechecked at 1040 UTC and signal had improved to a good level still
with Huaynos

music. (Chuck Bolland, September 14, 2012)

Bolivia, 6134.849, Radio Santa Cruz, 1015-1030, Noted a male and female in
their regular

morning program of instruction. Possibly a language course of some kind?
This continues

during the half hour. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland, September 14,

Philippines, 9400.00, FEBC, pres, 1030-1040, Noted a male and female in
Mandarin language

comments over music. Signal was poor by audible. (Chuck Bolland,
September 14, 2012)

Peru, 4747.114, Radio Huanta Dos Mil, 1036-1100, Noted a male in Spanish
Language

comments. Hadn't heard this earlier when I was on this band, so they must
have come

on later after 1000 UTC. Anyway the signal was fair during this period as
the male

continued to comment. Believe I heard a female in there also. (Chuck
Bolland,

September 14, 2012)

Unid, 4749.989, 1040-1100, Noted a signal being displayed only, on this
frequency. Could not

pickup any audio since it was too weak. Wondering as I continue to listen
for something, if

this may be the Indonesian, RRI Makassar, that was on this frequency in the
past? I will continue to monitor

this frequency with the hope that some audio eventually gets through. At
1112 UTC, no audio heard,

so decided to drop the coverage. (Chuck Bolland, September 14, 2012)

Peru, 4810.00, Radio Logos, 1055-1100 Noted a threshold signal here with
some music and

comments being heard over the noise. Unfortunately, I tuned in too late to
hear anything

from this station. However, an earlier check would have been just as bad
with the QRM

that is normally on this frequency or just above it. Signal remained
threshold today.

(Chuck Bolland, September 14, 2012)

China, Pres, 13430.029, Firedrake, 1130-1135, Noted Chinese type Opera
music without any breaks. Signal

2012-09-05 Thread Charles
Peru, 4810.018, Radio Logos, Pres, 1005-1105, At tune in, noted a male in
Spanish language comments

for a couple of minutes. Could make out the language, but unable to
determine the message. After

a few comments, music was presented. Signal improved from a poor to a fair
when the music was being

presented. Still a lot of QRM on the high side of the frequency. But with
a notch filter enabled, this

helped. During the comments at 1024, noted the male mentioning Lima.
Between 1030 and 1100,

the music is steady without any comments. The music seemed to be
inspirational however and

consisted of just one singer. Waited until 1103 for a break and ID, but
none was given. Signal was

almost lost by then too. Best period of reception was around 1035 with a
fair signal.

(Chuck Bolland, September 5, 2012)

Peru, 4747.086, Radio Huanta Dos Mil, 1016-1025, At tune in, noted a male
in Spanish language comments.

I could not pull out the significance of his comments with the noise from
the current condx here - raining.

The male continue with his comments as a female joined in at 1018. Signal
was poor. (Chuck Bolland,

September 5, 2012)

Peru, 4774.934, Radio Tarma, 1019-1030, At tune in, noted Huaynos type music
with the usual yelling

by the band. At the end of the first tune, a male comments briefly in
Spanish language, then back

to music with same theme of music. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland,
September 5, 2012)

Bolivia, 6134.828, Radio Santa Cruz, 1039-1045, Noted a male and female in

at this time.

Peru, 4939.928, Radio San Antonio, pres, 1046-1055, With a very weak signal
here, noted music as

background as a female commented in the Spanish language. (Chuck Bolland,

Peru, 5039.27, Radio Libertad, 1049-1100, The frequency is clear this
morning which allows Radio

Libertad to broadcast without any interference from the Cuban that is
normally here. Noted music

at tune in, followed with a male in Spanish language comments. At 1052,
noted possible

ID as male continued to comment. Signal was poor unfortunately. (Chuck

Bolivia, 6134.829, Radio Santa Cruz, 0134-0145, Noted a male in rapid
Spanish language talk as

if he was describing some sort of sporting event. Probably football
(soccer) judging from the

tone etc. Not much of a signal due to the Voice of Russia on 6135 KHz in
Portuguese now. So

will give Radio Santa Cruz a poor for now. (Chuck Bolland, February 2,
2012)
