mixing with R. Australia during mornings here on the east coast of the US -
around 1000 to 1200 UTC. Who is this station and why must they choose 9580 from

returned the mist Canadian stamps I included for return postage with a note
that said These stamps are only good if used in the USA.

At least that's not a real issue. I'm using a very basic MD-deck (Sony
MDS-JE510) for more than five years now, which I still regard as
completely sufficient for my DX-purposes. It does not cover
signal through the connecting cord to the minidisc.
