If we really go back to 2003 (or let's say 2004 when cs source and

Mani-admin and BeetlesMod. Not for like over a year. There was metamod
and some talks about rewriting it completely which i think happened
later on and thus Sourcemod is here now.

Mani-admin was a good plugin, very user friendly (not so install
friendly but everyone got it running who really wanted it), had multiple
things to make game fun. Votes, punishments, weapon restrictions, you
know what else. Maybe it's shit in some people eyes but it was there
when there was nothing else and still is a fairly good plugin. Elitists
seem to diss it the most. Really, it was free, you don't have to use it
if you dislike it.. Have some respect for the work of others?

Also remember it was made by just one guy. Sourcemod has now like 50
people behind it who make smx plugins into it so naturally it develops
more and things get fixed quickly.

If really Sourcemod is these days the one and only and all server owners
should move into it, maybe Sourcemod lacks something that Mani-admin
has.No, not the exploits. 1.2T fixed those afaik. If there is one, it
doesn't work with sv_cheats 0.

And for those of us who wrote their own plugins, we have helped Mani and
SourceMod become better via sharing. I know Mani and the SourceMM group
shared a lot in the past.

In the end, choice is important. These tools help server operators keep
their servers running. Some can add fun to the game, but in the end, if it
doesn't help groups/clans/individuals operate their servers, it won't get
used.

And BTW, 2003 was a good year :)

Firstly can I commend Mani for what he provided in the early years of admin
and games plugins, we have used all of the known mani/beetles/SM but we had
issues with mani that eventually forced us to put all eggs in one basket and
go with SM. Mani at the end of the day is for some and not others and visa
versa for SM Beetles.
With that said we are happy with the diversity of SM and will stay using SM
for the see able future.
And with that Simiancage commends all coders that have progressed gaming
Admining what it is today.
Its just a shame that there now coding games for consoles and porting to the
pc bring back the cs16 days!

Re: [hlds] [TF2][SourceTV] Slot Count Change Recently?

2010-02-23 Thread MjrNuT
Since Valve added bots, the player slot count total has changed.

Any bots added to the server are subtracted from the Player Slot total.

eg. 6 bots on a 24 slot, will be 0/18.

SourceTV is a bot.

Therefore, if you are on TCAdmin, your GSP may trigger you for using an
extra slot eg. 24 slot is now 25 slot w/ STV. This is b/c the max slot
number exceeded +maxplayers 24.

As I suspected, the update impacted/changed the way the maxplayers are shown
as well as player slots to use.

2 options:

1 - Do not set cvar sv_maxvisibleplayers in server.cfg.

Things to note:

If on TCadmin, then you might have a sideeffect of being notified that your
player slots have been modified without permission. Can result in disabling
your server immediately for some GSPs, or delayed with other GSPs.

Contact your GSP. TCAdmin has a specific field to allow for that extra
slot, which was working fine before the TF2 bot inclusion. Or the GSP will
increase your +maxplayers to 25 w/o charge.

Result: 25 players can join the server, SourceTV then makes it total 26
slots. Repeat the same issue. LOL

2 - Set sv_maxvisibleplayers 25 (equals +maxplayers 25)

Server browser, HLSW all show max 25 slots.

24 Players can now join the server with SourceTV as intended.

I do think this seems to be wrong though. Shouldn't you be able to set
+maxplayers 24 (vanilla slot count), have STV online, and be able to have 24
players join? That is still the problem and the above options are how to
make that happen now w/ the new TF2 Bots added shortly after the Demo/Solly
update.

Subject: [hlds] [TF2][SourceTV] Slot Count Change Recently?
 Hello,

For more than a year I have run a 24 slot TF2 server, using SourceTV. I
 set
sv_maxvisibleplayers 24 so that it shows in the TF2 server browser as 24
 slots.

HLSW it will show max as: 1/24(25)

Untill recently, there would be no problem for the server to have 24
players. What happened was that the 24th player could not longer join,
 thus
the SourceTV was counted as a Player Slot. I was under the impression that
while it uses a slot, that it does not equate to a _Player Slot_.

I had to change sv_maxvisibleplayers 25 to be allow that 24th player to
 join.

Anyone experience this or could confirm?? Thanks!!

I dont think there is a variable but there are some sourcemod plugins
that can help out, like this one.

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=1004457

The above plugin works, afaik, but is not maintained anymore.

I'll do also some shameless self promotion, pointing out that there are
complete sets of configs used in tourneys and leagues like the project i
am working on, which is confogl.

You can read about it and/or download it here:

It includes a set of changes to balance out the versus experience if
you're interested either in adding some spice to the game or playing
competitively.

Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Released

2010-02-23 Thread Dog
This update has borked querying again.

SM or MM is not showing up in HLSW.

I run a Zombie Mod for DoDS with bots (legitimate use) and apparently, one
of the 32 player servers has 44(64)/32Each bot in HLSW also has a time
on server, instead of 'Bot'. Confused as heck...

Anyone else getting severe lag after this update? Related to the Steam Cloud
