Here's my ask for I know not the answer and deem this question germane to
the discussion.

Thanks to two listers, I have this once again.
Good bunch of folks here, even if we can't agree on semantics.

So is this an optional copy of the JES library, or the new and recommended
one?

A while back there was a Share presentation "Drinking From a Firehose"
that talked about the 1.4 to 1.7 move. I printed my copy and then deleted
it. Now we have a couple of team members who want the PDF.
Does anyone have the link for this?
TIA

Chairs, chairpersons, sponsors, speakers, and pundits aside, maybe it's
time for SHARE to virtualize.
A company could opt for a video conference into a specific session, or
sessions, and pay a usage fee.
Between travel costs and extra security measures, it is getting quite
costly, isn't it?
I've done a lot of analysis on the 3480 in the last couple of days. We
have things like files extending to 15 reels or tapes with up to 20 files
stacked on them. I think we're going to use an esoteric of SYS3480R to
allow them to be read on the 3490s, but no more writes on the 3480s.

There is a tool on the CBT tape to fix the catalog entries. Watch for
anything that adds data onto an existing tape, DISP=MOD or FSEQ +1, it
will break.
After those 2, I think it's pretty easy. We had UNIT=CART in our JCL,
so IODF change covered that.

According to recent announcements, R9 starts the n-2 or n+2 (depending on

Tom's point is well taken and I omitted that point. If you touch your 1.4
system with a 1.8 system, you won't be going back without massive
restores.

What does this actually mean in the real world? At one point I was
under the impression that this only came into effect if you were sharing
spool space or other datasets between LPARs. In a simple configuration
like ours (3 LPARs, no sharing of anything except the hardware), what

Greetings to all.
We are trying to dump our 3480 drives. Knowing that 3490 can read 3480,
we'd like to facilitate a way to do that that would not entail a bazillion
JCL changes.
