that data in COMMON as well as data buffers reside
in the LCS under OS MVT. The LCS slowdown was noticable because the CPU
had to wait longer for all data coming in/out of LCS and, of course, the
CPU time was still ticking. I don't know if it slowed down channel
access much.

records are formatted daily for mgmt who had to show the auditors
when the LLA was refreshed. SYSLOG wasn't adequate for this; SMF was.
Maybe someday IBM will write some SMF whenever LLA and/or VLF are
modified, stopped, started, etc. (I don't know if it is a known SHARE
requirement.)

It seems to me that JES2 could CLOSE and reOPEN the PROCLIB and redrive
the job automatically instead of failing the poor user's job. If the
I/O error happened a second time, then JES2 could give up like today.

Our mainframe's HMC's web access is unusably slow when used with
Internet Explorer 7. It works fine with IE 6 and all other browsers
tried. We are currently running HMC level 1.8.2 Driver 55. Any ideas
for IE 7 and the HMC?

3's for local page datasets. WLM controlled PAV's might, however,
allow multiple local page datasets on a single mod 9. However, I
believe IBM has said on this forum that the BCP would only use 2 PAV's
for paging.

Heads up for z/OS V1.7 Serverpacs generated between Feb. 15 and May 26,
2006. APAR OA16334 says the SMP/E SYSLIB concat order is built wrong,
with DLIBS before TARGET datasets.
Bummer...this apar came out after I'd installed the system and applied
maint to the test system...

It looks like SMP/E only used the SYSLIB DD when doing an assembly. Of
the 400+ fixes I've installed on my 1.7 system, I've only found one
assembly. I'm restoring those fixes and will reapply with the corrected
SYSLIB. YMMV

Actually I was lamenting that the VSAM Extent Consolidation doesn't
work for non-system managed datasets, not that it didn't work on
non-VSAM datasets.

We still IPL at least every 6 weeks to recycle ASID's. We bounce 4 DB2
subsystems nightly and that chews them up. We are running z/OS V1.4.
