Hello everyone,
Is the format of this command output documented anywhere?
Would like to spin some automation around this and want to know how to parse
the output returned..
Thanks in advance.

Well, as usual you told me something I didn't know - the CONSOLE=SYSC
option in SA Dump :) So I looked at my JCL the last time I created
tapes for SA ICKDSF/DFDSS. ICKDSF has no options (you just IEBGENER

I am having a discussion on how a GDG is handled based on the DISP. I was
always working from the position that the use of MOD changes JCL behavior
slightly with a dataset. My understanding is: If using MOD then if the dataset

I was seeing messages from the system until it was shut down. Continued

will have a hard time allocating new dataset or temp datasets. I would think

How do you create your ISPF Profile Dataset?
Do you have a REXX/CLIST for your TSO Logon proc that allocates the files
needed for TSO/ISPF?
You might be able to tailor that to not use SMS.

And, if memory serves, likely mount the volume as Storage, associate it
with an esoteric name in HCD, activate the configuration, and put the
esoteric name you chose into the TSO user profiles. But it's been a

CA Allocate does that and many other things. Another ISV markets the one you
are thinking of, and its name matches up with what you said it does.
You will probably need to put something in VATLSTxx. Read the init and tuning

Hi All,
We have build a new system and we are bringing this system without SMS
configuration.
We got the VTAM, TSO, TCPIP up and we are ready to login TSO, when we login
to TSO, the ISPF profiles are not getting allocated, since it’s pointing to
SMS dataset but we have disabled SMS.
May I know,
Ha ha ha. I did all of that in the early 1980's, then again in the early
1990's. Both companies were a manufacturing company.
Both cases took "month-end" from 5 days to 5 hours.

I just tested ZZSA under Hercules and like I thought, when you connect
via Hercules TN3270 to simulate a console, after IPL no ZZSA messages
appear until you press Enter. That means ZZSA sits waiting for an
interrupt from a 3270 device, and uses that device for the rest of the
communication.
I've tested ZZSA under Hercules - Thanks to Sam Golob's fine work - but I
didn't see how to define a console as an HMC integretated console (hmcs) ?

Oh... you mean HMC console. New answer: I did not try that, but prior
to going to that site I had never user ZZSA before so I tested it under
Hercules, and that simulates the HMC console I believe, so I'd bet the
answer is yes.

Otherwise you can hook the standard LOAD/LINK/ATTACH SVCs.
Please do not do that. There is a long history of applications getting

It is unfortunate that hooking of any SVC was ever viewed as acceptable
