As others have noted a significant improvement today:
594 JOAK Tokyo, JAPAN Man in Japanese at 1351.
693 JOAB Tokyo, JAPAN Man in Japanese at 1353.
747 JOIB Sapporo, JAPAN Woman in Japanese at 1420
774 JOUB Akita, JAPAN Man in Japanese at 1329, //693. A weak
carrier also
This morning definitely showed more action. Even though Bill Whitacre's
reception of HLCA-972 on the east coast was so good, it was actually received
even better on the west coast today. And, about time too. Plus, some Chinese
stations appeared again.
On top of that, three stations hung in
Quite a selection of weak carriers starting at local sunset, and then
fading away within a hour or two. A return of a few of them
occurred after 0630UT, with audio traces on 1089 (with phasing down
of 1090), and on 1215kHzbut nothing to get excited about at all.
best wishes,
Nick

Now I’ve got ‘island music’ on 1098kHz:

No claims yet but I’m thinking about it.

Korea on 972 in already @ 0845utc in Lubec, Maine.
Other traditional TP channels still have TAs on them so need to be careful.

I see presumed Ethiopia on 972.019-023 kHz. Just strange, that last
night they were on overnight, that's new.

Has to be V7AB with that mx. Lubec SR was just about 1128 today. Marshalls

HLAZ 1566 managed to stumble through to 1700UT, when a fairly
readable "welcome to the Voice of America" appeared.
Local sunrise was 1523UT

The best I can come up in Victoria with is that HLAZ is still
delivering at 1642UT, not loud, but recognizably Russian talk.

Bearing is about 300 deg from Lubec to Marshalls. Surprising to have that
signal level on a DKAZ aimed 35 deg, but clobbering WTAM 1100 is also
important. Is V7AB using their full 25 kW now? Earlier this month when cx
were great and I wasn't sick so was up to DX, I had their all night OC

Conditions are improving here, so who knows what you would come up with.

Bill, I was very impressed with the second clip. As the TPs were open,
presumably the Marshall’s here. One day there’ll be a similar opening into

Interesting you mentioned 1566, as here in Alberta this morning HLAZ was
at least audible, but it was battling with another station on the
frequency, about equal in strength much of the time.

It all depends on the path, the time and where the auroral zone is. On a
path from ECNA to China/NK during low A and K periods the path probably
skips over the zone and has its bounce point somewhere within the zone.
There's also the potential for Greyline enhancement. If the path drops far
