that you do not have the active table
populated in Oracle DB (you probably created an account manually in
authreg table, or with Berkeley DB attached as storage).
Please see your sm.xml end enable user.auto-create option to populate
the storage tables as needed.

But there is a packet counter for every connection (used for packet
count logging), so it should be fairly easy to implement one.
Just copy the bytes-per-time limiter and change the field it uses from
bytes to packets. :-)

Thus I personally do not maintain and fix the wrapper script, which is a
relic of the past for me.
Maybe I should add upstart service description files to the default
distribution to hint the preferred way of starting jabberd2
components?
