We've recently written a device driver (for Linux), and it uses
ioctl(2). We use a separate C program which is also a BSD-socket
server to drive the device at the user-level. The socket server is
for Java apps which also need to use the device.
If you want to use ioctl(2), you probably need JN

I noticed the linux jdk1.2 now has a 70 meg footprint in ram
(as opposed to 6 meg for 1.1.7).
Is this because it was built with special debugging info or
should I expect it to remain this big (necessitating the purchase
of another 64M of ram)?

I did a first Jini test with the Linux Jdk1.2-pre1, worked out of the

I am new to Java and not a programmer, but have had some experience in

I downloaded the JDK 1.2 source code from

Hey there everyone.
I'm having a problem with AWT under jdk117a for linux. If I click on

Hi,
I downloaded JDK1.2 and after I downloaded the script to fix the library

Yes, I read the README.
And you suggestion fixed the linking problem.

Blackdown, you guys rock! I downloaded pre-1 and

It seems that jdk 1.2 is ready for x86 machines with 2.2.x(no kernel

is anyone currently using it? where there any problems with installation or code

Ported? Why port? I used Weblogic's JDBC drivers for MS SQL on Linux Blackdown
1.1.7 with no problems whatsoever. Worked

A short note for glibc 2.1 users:
Native threads don't work with glibc 2.1 because of a problem
with pthread_create.
A special glibc 2.1 version will be available in a few days.
