[JAWS-Users] MS Word formatting

2007-01-18 Thread Alan Terrie Robbins

Good morning all,

Figured I'd drop the group a quick note and questions before departing for
work. Yesterday I was working on a rather long and extensive MS Word
document at work and had to make many changes in one section. The problem I
was having was the section contained a lot of special text formatting,
indents, etc. I got very frustrated trying to block the section and just
make it all plain text and start over. What I finally did was block and
copy the section, saved it as plain text, and then copied and pasted it back
into the document. My question is: Is there a quick way in Word 2000 to
block a section of text and remove ALL formatting etc?

thanks
Al

The links list itself doesn't make much sense, anyway. (They are weird names.) However, my JAWS read the page when I turned Flash off in the JAWS verbosity and my JAWS didn't crash.

I tried what you suggested. Now, jaws reads the page, and shuts up
completely. Can't get the links list to talk or any of the navigation
 keys!

Two things you could try, in relation to the persistent Flash: First, Go
into the JAWS verbosity with Jaws+v, andarrow down or hit f until Flash is
highlighted. Turn Flash off by toggling with the spacebar. then, if
you're going to be returning to the site, you can personalize settings
for this page. For this, hit Jaws+Shift+v, and again choose Flash and
toggle it to off. This means that, for the version of JAWS in current
use, The Flash will always be off when it sees this site until you alter
  the personalized settings. .

[JAWS-Users] Re: MS Word formatting

2007-01-18 Thread Negoslav Sabev

Hello Al.

I never used MS Word 2000 but I can tell you how to remove the formatting of
surtain block of text in MS Word 2003. First you have to select the
formatted text. Than go to Format menue and enter on stiles and formatting.
In my kase the task pain opens and I have some choices there. I use the up
and down arrow to go to clear formatting and press enter there. The job is
done. Another way to do this is to go to text with the formatting you want
to apply and press Ctrl.+shift+c to copy the formatting and then select the
section witch format you want to change and just press ctrl.+shift+v. Again
the job is done. I think this way should work if you have jaws 7.0 and above
. I use MS Word 2003 Jaws 7.10 and Windows XP pro.

Hope this helps.
Negoslav

[JAWS-Users] auto maximize

2007-01-18 Thread David Ferrin

The function itself should go into the default script file so it may be
called by other scripts. Some are as simple for example note pad that all
you need to do is create an auto start event function and place the line to
call auto maximize. The problem with outlook express seems to be that the
placing of that particular command line isn't as clear. I've done it many
times in earlier versions of JAWS but for some reason last night it just
didn't work like it did in the past. I'll keep looking in to it though but
possibly somebody else out there may find the positioning even before I do
assuming I do find it again. I haven't done it for a couple of versions but
that really shouldn't matter, a puzzle I admit.

[JAWS-Users] Re: jaws and sleep mode

2007-01-18 Thread Walt Smith

While this is more or less a moot point now, since you've removed the game,
here's something to remember in the future.

You went about silencing JAWS in the wrong way to begin with. What you
really _should_ have done was to load the game, then open the Configuration
Manager. JAWS would have prompted you by telling you that a new
configuration file was being created. The proper thing to do here is to
press the OK button. Then, when the file opens, press ALT+S to open the
Settings menu and press the letter A to open the Advanced options. The first
item on this page is the Sleep Mode Enable check box. Check it by pressing
the SPACEBAR. Then, press CTRL+S to save and ALT+F4 to exit the
Configuration Manager.

In the future, when you start your game, JAWS will automatically be
siolenced. Any time you either quit the game or use ALT+TAB to move away
from it, speech will automatically return.

having to press that key stroke since it doesn't seem to work anyways? This

More than enough running in the System Tray? What does this mean? It makes
no difference how many items are running there. For that matter, you can set
Autosizer (like a lot of other programs) to _not_ display a System Tray icon
if you don't want one.

[JAWS-Users] Re: sample note pad script

2007-01-18 Thread Walt Smith

As I pointed out to David off-list (and, with his encouragement, I repost
here), this is actually backwards. While it very well may (quite likely
will) work 99.9% of the time, good scripting practice says that you should
always place a function ahead of the first place in the .jss file where the
function is called. Thus, the order should be:

void Function AutoMaximize ()
var string StatusSymbol
SaveCursor ()
FindGraphic (GetAppMainWindow (GetCurrentWindow ()), maximize symbol,
s_top, s_unrestricted)

let StatusSymbol=GetWord()
If StatusSymbol == Maximize Symbol Then
   LeftMouseButton ()
EndIf
RestoreCursor ()
Pause()
EndFunction

Void Function AutoStartEvent ()
AutoMaximize ()
EndFunction

Also, it's no longer really required that the ResporeCursor () function be
called after a SaveCursor () function or a function that changes the cursor
from one type to another is issued. The EndScript now forces this to occur.
Including it won't hurt anything, but it's just a line of superfluous code.

let StatusSymbol=GetWord()

LeftMouseButton ()

RestoreCursor ()

Everything above this line of text if placed in your note pad script file
will serve to automatically maximize note pad everytime it is open or gains
focus. Well at least it works on my system your results may vary, enjoy
experimenting with it. I picked note pad because there's nothing you can do
to hurt it under normal conditions.

Hey David,
I tried to reinstall IDailyDiary, but I got this.

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:

DeleteFile failed; code 5.

Access is denied.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort

I want to get it out of my system tray and off my computer. I looked for the
program in my control panel, and my program and it is not there, just on my
system tray.
How do I get it off my computer if I can't find it?
The first time I deleted it was in my program under IDailyDiary submenu and it
said to uninstalled so I press enter on it, but It didn't get out of my system
tray.
What do I do now?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Donny. Be sure that you check out the Accessibility section on the Adobe
web site. But once you download Version 8, then open it. The Install
Wizard will do the rest. It creates a folder with all of the programs in
it. It even sets up a link on your Desktop.
It's about the simpleist installation I've ever seen.

How can I move an Icon from one place to another without having to use
the mouse. The only way that
I know to do it is with the drag and drop method with the mouse. With
the limited vision that I
have, it really strains my eyes to see the mouse, so I'm wanting to learn
how to do it the other
way. Thanks for all your help.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Moving Icons On The Desktop

2007-01-18 Thread one foxy lady

Try pressing the applications key again make sure the item or icon is
highlighted first, and arrow to make a shortcut I just tried this and now I
have the 2 icons on my desktop of the same thing one is the actual name of
the file in my case it's client log and the new one is shortcut to client
log. now I know if you highlighted the shortcut one and pressed the either
applications key again or the f2 key which is rename you can rename this..

I like to keep my icons lined up horizontally in lines by catagories. It's
just a clean, neat

If you are using Jaws, what is the importance of moving an icon to a
particular spot on the desktop?

[JAWS-Users] Re: IDailyDiary

2007-01-18 Thread Patti

Hey Walt,
I went to my computer and found IDailyDiary in programs, and I tried to
delete and all I got is this.

---
Error Deleting File or Folder
---
Cannot delete iDD: Access is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use.
---
OK
--

As far as I know it is just setting in my system tray. I didn't use it, and
I don't think it is running with anything.

Now what do I do?
Confused Patti

Patti -

Use My Computer to locate your hard drive. Press ENTER to open Windows
Explorer to show all the files and folders. Then, just follow the path
that's in the error message by continuing to open folders and subfolders.

David
I opened up the run program, and put in the path
C:\Program Files\iDailyDiary\iDD.exe
That opened up the Diary, but there is no where to delete it.
How do I delete it?
Patti
