You can toggle screen echo setting off highlighted by pressing Insert S until you hear Jaws say none. The options are all, none and highlighted. I am interested in why this is confusing for you though. How else will you know which text you have selected if Jaws does not tell you? What method do

Very astute observation. Yes as a matter of fact everybody who subscribes is automatically placed on moderated status to protect the list from potentially unwanted emails. That is how I always setup any list, although it does cause some what more work over all it makes for a well ordered group

Hi thanks this has solved it for me. I don't think I will need to report it as a Jaws 10 problem now although having said that, when I tried one of the alternative voices which I quite liked, I did seem to have some trouble with selected text but I don't see how altering a voice would do that.

Hi mandy, Whether it is a JAWS10 issue or not, it is still a JAWS technical problem nonetheless. Selected text is not supposed to be repeated as normal behaviour with Screen Echo set to highlighted text. You shouldn't have to switch screen echo to None for a solution to this alone. -
