Mike, a few suggestions: When I've encountered a failure of alt-F4 to close a program, sometimes alt-tabbing out of that window and bringing up the windows list with JAWS key+F10 gets me back to that window. I press enter, and then suddenly alt-F4 works again. If not, an alt-spacebar plus x

Hi David, Yes, & this person having the trouble tried the, Alt + F4, keystroke without success, which I found out later, along with other keystrokes, but the only way she was able to get the calculator closed was rebooting the computer, for whatever reason. Thanks again for all your help.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought and when I went looking for it last night to hope to help the original poster, I couldn't find it. FTR, I did windows key x, down arrowed until the use the computer without a display and went from there. However, windows 10 made me go to the CTRL panel lol.
