Hi, Al. Jason gave an alternative approach that makes complete sense, but here
I'll continue with the idea we were discussing.
I'll take your example, but clarify it a little. For these purposes, your
folder is JAWS. Can I assume this folder is in the root C drive? And yes, file
1234 is the
If you liked the DOS days, you can always run PowerShell, type
cd Documents
then use the move-item command (abbreviated as mi) to move your files:
mi filename some_directory
and I think you can still use mkdir to create a directory.
Then you can use gci, dir or ls (all names for the same command)
Hi Adrian,
Thanks again for your help. I tried pressing F-12 and than entering my
folder's name and the name of my new document, but it went into my document
files and not into the named folder.
I go back to the DOS days when we would use back slashes to determine the
different areas we wanted
The short answer is press F12, then type the path and filename. If this doesn't
mean much to you, would you post back with the name of your folder. If you
happen to know if this folder is a subfolder of a larger one, include that name
as well.

Hi,
I'm filling out a form that is in word. It asks me a question where I must
check an item. How do I check the item?
I'm using jaws 17 and word 2016.
Thanks.

A basic method would be this:
1. With the document closed, place focus against its name and press control-x
for "cut."
2. Move focus to the desired folder and press control-v.
Note. Be sure nothing in the target folder is verbalized as "selected." If
you're unsure, press control-spacebar
Hi Everyone,
I have Word 2010, Windows 7 and JAWS 13
I was finally able to set up folders in my Word documents by using Alt F,
than w and than entering my folder's name. Now, I have been trying to move
my documents into the different folders but nothing seems to work. Can
anyone help?

I learn a lot from this list as well. There are bigger brains on here than
mine, so mostly these days I just sit back like a cop on the highway
monitoring the traffic flow.

Hi David,
I appreciate this list very much. I just became a Jaws home user a bit
over a year ago.
Even though I used Jaws at work, it took a bit of time getting used to
using it at home since I was a long time Window-Eyes user and still like it.
But since I use Station Play List, I

It has been quite a while since I sent out such a message so it seemed like
a good time to correct that oversight. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
