In the Text Processing dialogue box in Configuration Manager, there are two
controls that tells JAWS how to handle long numbers. The first defines how
many digits before JAWS speaks them as single digits (5 or more is the
default). The second tells JAWS to speak numbers with dashes as single
digits
I'm totally with you on this Wayne!

Hi There:
What I do is this:
1. Press JAWS key+space to activate layered keyboard mode.
2. Press r to bring up Research it.
3. Type a word or phrase and press enter.
4. Select a source from the list view that appears, and press enter.
5. The result will appear in a virtual viewer window.
Hope this helps.

Folks I would advise you to keep an eye on the check for updates. If it's
going to be out by the end of the month then I'm sure most of us,
particularly those running Windows 7, will want this update. Just some
advice from a JAWS user.

You download this small program, install it to your computer, then it will
just go out and get the latest updates before doing a quick scan.
