Did you try re classing that child window? First make sure JAWS is
focused on that particular child window, and press [Insert]+[7]
(Above the [u] key) and re class that field as a "Edit" field. See if
that fixes the issue.

Hi David,
Well it was your post that encouraged me to give Chrome a try and I'm

Yes, JAWS 17 seems to work a whole lot better with it than with
FireFox and Internet Explorer. Much much faster. Haven't experienced
one single crash or bog down of speech output using it either.

Once again thank you for sharing. I have no problem supporting any
developer who has taken the time to make an app or plug-in that
addresses a serious problem. As long as it works well with JAWS v16
and v17 I'm in!

One tip I must give you is turn off the "Virtual Cursor" once you are
logged into the Google Drive interface. You'll be able to not only
navigate the interface better using the [Tab] key but the various
keyboard shortcuts Google has made available can be used. Good luck to you.

Sounds like a question for the good people subscribed to the JAWS

Subscribe and pose this question to them. Sure they'll be more than

FTP and Google Drive are 2 different methods of transferring/viewing files.
Maybe it's best if you tell your instructer to simply email the file
to you as an attachment.

Wayne, I'm not sure of the exact procedures
needed for accessing your school work. I can only surmise here.
I'm sure if they're using Google Drive to deliver
school work to you the book or whatever info they
want you to review must be downloaded first from
a folder that your teacher created
and password they sent along with the
file link. I am now trying to save the file as a text file rather than a
web page.
Lots of new steps.

One thing I would like to add to this.
Make sure you perform these steps while using the latest build of
JAWS (To date is version 17.0.1214.)
So if your more comfortable using a prior version of JAWS like v15 or
v16, your remaining Authorizations will increase by 2 or 1. That's

upgrading. Meanwhile the status quo serves me fine. My job gives me

That's the point those who are imploring everyone to upgrade do not tell you.
You will encounter driver issues with printers, scanners, DVD
players, USB drives and the list goes on.

You are so right with this point.
Even things like CD/DVD burners and Blu-ray players stop working due
