Would that be why one port on my computer does not work with almost anything
I try to plug in there? It bongs but then the device never works. New
computer HP as of last May.

device and plug it in. When you plug in to a USB 2 port, it

Call the computer manufacturer's Technical Support Number with the
computer's model number. They will be able to tell you which ports are USB
3.0 and which are 2.0. They will be grouped together, not intermixed
