Re: [JAWS-Users] How to stop Jaws from announcing "super script"
Thanks Mike for these instructions. Was wondering how to turn that off. Kept having reference to that symbol spoke to me in my Eudora Pro mail. At 02:07 PM 4/11/2017, you wrote: Hi Adrian & Mr. Ed, Try the following: 1. Open the Settings Center, Insert + 6 on the number row, & press, Control, Shift, + D, to open the Setting Center default all applications. Note: If you want to stop Jaws from announcing, Super Script, in a particular application open the Settings Center while in the application without opening the Settings Center default all applications. 2. Arrow down to, Speech & Sound Schemes, & right arrow to open. 3. Arrow down to, Modify Schemes, & press the spacebar to open. Note: Do not press enter, pressing enter will close the Settings Center. 4. Tab to, Edit Selected Scheme button, & press the spacebar to open. 5. Control + Tab to the Attributes tab, & Tab 1 time to get into the list of attributes. 6. Arrow down to, Super Scripts Behavior, Tab 1 time to get into the radio buttons of options, & arrow up / down to the, Ignore, option. 7. Now tab & you'll have various options as how you want to save this change. I won't go through the save options because various people will want to choose how they might want to save their scheme after making a change. Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. Go Dodgers! How strange, then, that the superscript verbalization was omitted when you sent a message to the list. I figured you were reading the bible in a different application. As I tried to explain, in my experience, JAWS doesn't say "superscript" in Outlook, but it does in Word. Re: [JAWS-Users] April upgrade for Jaws 18
Hi Miriam, Did you use the Jaws updater from within the Jaws program, or did you download & install the update from the FS website? You could try a system restore, & see if that'll take you back to before you updated. Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. Go Dodgers! Dear friend, Your version number will let you know if it is creater’s update? So press win+R type winver and hit enter if it says 17.03, yes it is windows 10 creater’s update. Re: [JAWS-Users] How to stop Jaws from announcing "super script"
It should be worth noting here that the term superscript denotes that there is a footnote for that particular section, and if it may be an important footnote, ignoring it may be an incorrect choice in this instance. Perhaps you may choose to substitute it with another word, such as foot note or something like that. A perfect example would be that I have the mouse-over links to say mouse, instead of on mouse over, or click link instead of clickable link. This lets me know what kind of link it is, while lessening the amount of verbiage I get from Jaws. You can do this following the same instructions as the before e-mail, but instead of selecting ignore, keep the current selection, but this time, tab to the edit field and type in what you want Jaws to say when it comes across those attributes. This is not meant as a criticism, just a suggestion as some of those footnotes may not be something you would want to miss. Scorpio -Original Message- From: Mike B. Hi Mr. Ed, >From what you said it sounds like you got the Speech Scheme changed to the way you want it. Do you recall which scheme you modified? For example I use the, Classic scheme, & if I modify it, the name will change to, Classic modified. It's been a long time since I messed with all those Add, Delete, & Modify options, & I'm uncertain on how they work, but actually I've never messed with them, I would just Okay my way out, & save the settings. [JAWS-Users] ***SPAM*** RE: [SPAM]Re: How to stop Jaws from announcing "super script"
Hi Mike, I followed your instructions. Everything worked good until number 6 on your list. That should be shift + tab instead of control + tab. Also on that line I would add after shift + tab then arrow right to the attributes tab then tab 1 time to get to the list of attributes. The only other thing I was unsure of after I change the radio button to ignore then tab and I had choices to add, delete, or modify an then there was the ok button. I was unsure of what to do on those add, modify or delete buttons. I click on ok then I got other dialog boxes asking me if I wanted to save so I press apply then ok again on another box. I went and check the email that had been saying super scripts and now it does not say that. So I hope when I shut down and boot up tomorrow the change stays. Any way thanks for the help and info. If you have any suggestions to help me on the last part with those add, delete, and modify buttons. Should I have click on one of those? Hi Adrian, I was misunderstanding the post. I took it to mean that there was something else in the message that should be copied into Notepad or Word that was missing from the post. [JAWS-Users] Changes in the settings area of W-10 after today's Jaws 18 update
Hi group. Using the latest Jaws 18 update of today. There are now Changes in the way Jaws speaks in the settings area of W-10. 1. Now after pressing Windows key+I, you land in the search edit box, if you type something to look for, just press the down arrow key to see a list of results. 2. The settings area now reads correctly with Jaws as you tab through all the controls, you will just hear the current control and its settings. 3. Tip, you must now use the touch curser to hear, you computer is up to date, last checked, bla, bla. 4. Because they finally fixed Jaws 18 to correctly read the settings area, you must now use the touch curser to hear the status. Remember to use the touch curser, to use the touch cursor, press Shift+PC cursor, on the num pad, press the PC cursor two times quickly to go back to the regular PC cursor. I hope this helps you all. Re: [JAWS-Users] How to stop Jaws from announcing "super script"
Hi Adrian, I get a daily Bible reading by email and that is where it says super script before and after every verse number. So I am wondering if there is a way to stop this from happening. I know I could stop Jaws from announcing "blank" by going into the settings center as by Mike B. instructions. Messages are normally posted quite quickly by the server, often within a matter of minutes or less. This goes for people like yourself who are not on moderated status. All new members are automatically placed there for your protection. Once they post enough for us to accept that they are here for the right reasons or we know who they happen to be then we set them to normal posting status. The fact is whatever speed the server posts is beyond my ability to modify. -Original Message- From: Adrian Spratt Sent: Tuesday, April 11, 2017 12:30 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Delay in posts arriving I'm wondering if others experience long delays before messages to this list are posted. Re: [JAWS-Users] the creators update
I have not noticed anything needing to be reset. Granted I have not checked everything as of yet, but so far all is as it was. My question is what did all of this accomplish? My wife says the start menu is transparent some what and she can see things behind it. We're still trying to figure out the results. Honestly I have been so busy putting it in that only today will I get the chance I hope to see what has happened. -Original Message- From: Kevin Sent: Tuesday, April 11, 2017 7:17 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] the creators update any settings we need to change , or are the settings we set pretty much carry over from the previous build of windows 10? -Original Message- From: David Ferrin Sent: Monday, April 10, 2017 5:01 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] the creators update Well I figure if this computer thing ever punks out I can always fall back on something more practical. -Original Message- From: Maria Campbell Sent: Monday, April 10, 2017 5:58 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] the creators update Tech savvy, list owner, peace keeper, and cooks, too.
