Re: [JAWS-Users] Fusion Question about resolution
Hello Loy, The recommendation in the Fusion help is to always set a monitor at its native resolution. When you go into the display settings for your system the recommended resolution is given. I am pasting the information shown in the Fusion help below. You can get to your Windows display settings through the control panel. In Windows 10 you can press Windows key I for settings, choose System and then choose Display. One of the resolution settings will show as being recommended. Although the following info is for when using multiple monitors, the Help information states that the same applies to when a person is using a single monitor. "Display resolutions For the clearest magnified views, we recommend always setting the screen resolution for each monitor to its native resolution. Running monitors in non-native resolutions degrades the image quality that appears in a normal view, which is further degraded when magnified. Note: This recommendation also applies when only using one monitor". Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Fusion question
Hello Pam, I was referring to the synthesizer and voice used for Fusion. However, the synthesizer and voice are picked from the JAWS options. You can adjust the rate of speech and keyboard echo from the Reader tab in the Fusion interface window but the synthesizer and voice used are chosen from JAWS. However, if the rate is changed in Fusion and settings are saved the new rate will be used when Fusion is restarted. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Fusion question
Hi Loy, There are several options. You can go to the Fusion UI and move to the Reader Tab (With CTRL + TAB), and then tab once to the Rate adjustment control. Pressing up arrow will increase the rate and it gets saved automatically for when you run Fusion. You could also press INSERT J, and go through the JAWS menu to adjust speech rate while Fusion is running and it will remember that as well. But the best solution is to use that Command called "Increase Voice Rate Permanent". And I'll tell you the keystroke, but first I'll tell you how you could easily find it. While running Fusion or JAWS, you have access to a Feature I call "Command Search". It is like a Google Search for commands in our software. One of the best features by far. To get to it, press INSERT + Space, J. That will land you in the Command Search Window on an Edit where you type in what you think you are looking for. I typed in Speech and at the top of the list, was the feature you are looking for and the command is WindowsKey + ALT + CTRL + PageUp. And if you use PageDown of course, it will lower the rate of speech. In the March update, coming in a week or two, this "Command Search" feature is being added to the top of the Help Menu in JAWS. I really hope people will experiment with this more. It is so helpful learning different features and how to access them. Re: [JAWS-Users] Fusion question
Hi, I have Fusion, but for the time being, I am running JAWS and Zoomtext separately. This is because when I run Fusion from the logon screen, and even for the first time after a reboot, I am getting a "Comm Initialization Error" message, which is supposed to be fixed sometime this month, according to VFO. I would think that when you run Fusion, it would be using the same copy of JAWS as you use when you run JAWS by itself. Or are you running a different version of JAWS from prior to installing Fusion? By any chance, is Fusion running with the reader option in addition to the magnifier option, instead of running JAWS? Do you know how much memory you have? When I was trying to run Fusion on an older computer with 4 GB of memory and a slower processor, it was extremely slow. I am now on a PC with a faster processor and 8 GB of RAM, and Zoomtext and JAWS are running with better performance.
