It works! Smooth as silk. I don't even have to open the email, or press control-n for new contact. Awesome! At 08:23 PM 8/21/2015, you wrote: OK, Keith. If I hit escape, I'm outside your message. RE: Safely Remove Hardware question
Stan and all: I finally got the safely remove option to work. I think my problem was that I was not hitting enter when on the notification chevron. I can now get to an option which says safely remove or eject. I assume that if I hit enter on this, I'll be given a choice of drives, and can hit enter and remove the one I no longer need. Re: How to Get an Applications Key on a Lenovo Laptop?
Hi, Here is a very easy way to remap the print screen key on Lenovo with JFW. 1. Press insert+8 on the number row from anywhere. JFW keyboard manager will open. 2. Press ctrl+alt+d to load the default .jkm file. You should hear that the default file is loaded. 3. Be sure that you are on the default section by pressing insert+ up arrow. 4. tab once to enter the list of script key assignments. 5. Find SendApplicationKey by pressing the first few letters. 6. Press alt+h to open the dialog for changing the key assignment. 7. press the print screen key to assign it. 8. Press tab to go to ok and enter to confirm it. 9. Press ctrl+s to save and alt+f4 to close. HTH Negoslav On 8/21/15, Ed Marquette via Jfw jfw@lists.the-jdh.com wrote: This depends on which Lenovo model you are using. RE: keystroke in outlook 2010 to add sender to contacts?
If you're in a message and hit esc, doesn't that put you back into the mailbox list At 08:23 PM 8/21/2015, you wrote: OK, Keith. If I hit escape, I'm outside your message. So, right there, I hit Control C; then Control 3 (to get to Contacts); then Control V to paste in the new address. I think that in a list like this, it is better to do it the old way to Alt 1 to the To field, copy it, start a new e-mail just to have a place to get out the and and list stuff, just get yours. But if you get an individual one, or you can even try with mine to Escape, then hit Control C, then Control 3, then Control V. Then you'll have the e-mail address. I did it with yours, and then deleted it; somehow or other I deleted it twice, but it's out. Anyway, that is one way that it can be done in Outlook 2013. The good thing about the older harder way, I think, is a little more control of the data. RE: keystroke in outlook 2010 to add sender to contacts?
OK, Keith. RE: How to Get an Applications Key on a Lenovo Laptop?
This depends on which Lenovo model you are using. You can sometimes swap the insert key and the applications key. Since insert is the typical insert key, that may not be entirely desirable; however, with the laptop keyboard, the capslock key becomes the JAWS key. Depending upon personal preference, this may be a good way to get both a JAWS key, which you absolutely need, and an applications key, which is pretty handy. The insert key, when it is not the JAWS key, is pretty useless. Though, I would love to replace the print screen key with something useful. I don't think I've ever found a use for the print screen key. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Soronel Haetir via Jfw Sent: Thursday, August 20, 2015 9:32 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. Re: Safely Remove Hardware question
Tom: Here is how I get to the safely remove feature in the system tray in my windows 7 64 bit machine running jaws 16. From desktop, windows key B lands me on notification chevron button in the system tray. Hit enter, arrow up to a button identified as safely remove and hit enter. I then get two options, one of which is safely remove.By the way, if you do not have a device connected at the time, there will not be a safely remove option available. I'm using Jaws 16 with Windows 7 here. I suppose I could just use the eject option in windows explorer via the application key and down arrows. But I'm now hearing that there is a difference between safely removing and ejecting a device. I'd like to find a single safe to remove option for removing a thumb drive or an external hard drive if that is available. If that's the case, Tom, you might post again with that specific question. Several sets of instructions have been posted in the past on how to get JAWS to reveal it. Dave, I've heard much the same thing. But, ever nervous about corrupting files, I do the following: Close the window showing the drive of the SD card, etc., that I want to remove. (This is consistent with your closing all applications using that card, disc, etc.) Go to system tray with JAWS key+F11. Press s until system tray is verbalized. On my system (Win7, 64-bit), that's just one press. Press enter, then arrow down until the name of the item to be removed is spoken. Press enter again. Then JAWS verbalizes something like Safe to remove and I feel comfortable ejecting the item. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Dave Carlson via Jfw Sent: Thursday, August 20, 2015 12:47 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. When I copy or paste to a USB Thumb drive, I just wait until I'm able to navigate through the list of files on that drive, and then I know I can pull it out. If you're using an external disc or hard drive, you might want to make sure that there are no programs running that are accessing the drive before disconnecting -- that might be the one and only time I'd consider using the feature. I am sure this may seem pretty elementary to some, but I actually have gotten varying opinions on the need to use the safely remove hardware option for USB devices such as USB thumb drives, and USB external hard drives. So, I have two questions: 1. Is it still necessary to invoke the safely remove hardware option when using any of these USB devices? I have heard that in later operating systems like Windows 7, this is not as necessary as it used to be. And 2. How does one easily get to the safely remove hardware option, if it would be a good idea for me to use it? I am using Windows 7 and Jaws 16 here. Thank you!
