Dean,
I highly recommend Airparts in Kansas City area for 4130. I get all my tubing
for my Wittman Tailwind Project from them. Great source for bolts/nuts and
aluminum as well.

Just a couple of questions regarding the engine mount

1. The plans in WW's book seem to be misleading. The
dimensions for the motor mount bolts are not clearly

The RR plans do not give any clue and on top of it the GP 5pt mount has 5/8"
4130
tube with integral round steel bearing plates on the Engine side and it just
seemed like something beyond a "Wood Washer" would be needed on the cabin side
but no clue. I was thinking 1/8" aluminum

Hello Net
The washers are part of the engine mount. They work the same as the washers
and rubbers in auto shock absorbers. Without the washers the engine will be
extremely unstable and possibly dangerous.

There should be a washer to protect the rubber

the bolt

My mounts are flat and that is why I questioned the necessity for the
washers.
The firewall foward book shows cupped washers and that makes sense, to keep
the rubber from expanding to much. My mounts have the inside steel tube
also.
