your copy, and check the publisher of the ebay copy, as well as the
pagination and publication dates, if it lists it in the ebay record.
Also the ISBN. Sign
Torchon and beds expand on the lessons learnt in the Technique.
Technique of BL and Complete book of English lace are one and the same

Hi Weronika! Nottingham's book "Bobbin Lacemaking" is the very best for a
lacer who lives in a lace desert. I taught myself lacing with that one and
still refer to it 20 yrs later. The lessons build on each other right from
the basic "bandage" through to Beds. When I aquired her next book, The

Can someone translate for me the text on p.11 (Les astuces)? Judging by

Tamara,
Well - what a surprise to come home to. A length of spidery material, and
made even more pleasant by the fact that I have very rarely won anything on
a raffle!
I am in the process of attempting to purchase a new sewing machine, and am
definitely looking forward to hemming the material t
Dear Beth,
My thoughts are with all you people in the path of Ivan, I cannot even

Weronika,
The 'Complete Book of English laces' is the same as 'The Technique of

different title - 'Complete...' book I think is the US version of the

Is Brigita Fuhrmann's "Bobbin Lace: a Contemporary Approach" by any chance very
similar to her "Bobbin Lace: An Illustrated Guide to Traditional and
Contemporary Techniques", which I already have?
I sure hope not, because I just bid for it on eBay...

Weronika, don't bother with this one. Nothing but a lot of sketches (not
even very good ones) of the designs of some older pieces of lace--possibly
vaguely useful if you want to design lace in that style but not even very

but I have a problem having someone watch me when I

My question is : is there some instructions and
patterns for a beginner on the net somewhere.

I think it's true to say that Pamla Nottingham only deals with Torchon,
Bucks Point and Bedfordshire laces.
Don't know the 'Complete Book of English Bobbin Lace'.
'Bobbin Lacemaking' is a brief introduction to lacemaking.
'Technique of Bobbin Lace' is more comprehensive and really covers the
