Hi Marji, and everyone
I just happened to find the questionnaire site and thought I'd give it
a try, and the response has been amazing, 74 replies already in just 8
hours!

But on the other hand.
I have people that I have been teaching in private classes for over twenty

A request for Jeri (or anyone else with the know how) - I know your forte is
the preservation of costume and textiles but what recommendations do you
have for storing old wood and bone lace bobbins?
I know what some of you will say - that bobbins are to be used - and I would
agree to a point.
I don't think a lacemaker ever gets too proficient for classes - as Jacquie
says there are always new laces to learn, or more challenging patterns to try.
If a class loses it's more experienced pupils from boredom, that probably says
as much about the teacher/class structure as losing beginners

Hi Beth,
One of the reasons I took the City and Guilds Teaching Certificates
qualifications was because I wanted to increase my teaching skills, and it
did prove to be a boon in that respect. The main mantra, drummed into us

Oops! Reading this message from Brenda I realised I'd got my Nm and Nel

meant to order the 24 wraps/cm Nm 50/3 (80/3)!
Anyone know how many wraps/cm the 50/3 (Nm 30/3) is? It isn't in edition 4 of

I have taken some screen shots of the video playing. They are .pdf

I haven't seen that size, but from the other sizes of Goldschild I'd
guess its 19 or 20 w/cm.

Brian, I've got the warning in my head that if we have a rotten

Hello
All this talk of teachers and working alone and trying to figure out how to do
a piece by penciling in lines -- well, that is the way to learn how to design
a particular form of bobbin lace.
I learned from Doris Southard's correspondence lessons and book. She
