I purchased small quantities on Ebay from a seller The FiberOpticStore. That was end emitting, but he may be able to help with side emitting. Side emitting is much more expensive, and bear in mind that end-emitting does leak some light along its length. Worth having a play. All fibre optic cable

Hi, I've played with fibre optic bare cable for irish crochet. Most is end-emitting but some transmission of light along the length occurs via microbending. Modern f/o cable is plastic, not glass, so no breaking problems. I bought a range of diff diameters from 1mm to 0.25mm thick. Hasn't worked

Hi, I attempted some wire needlelace a couple of years ago. It's very challenging, almost impossible to back track redo mistakes as the wire has memory retains kinks etc. I didn't finish the piece. Fun though, do have a try. Can't remember the gauge of wire I used, it was very fine copper wire.
