Please, dear arachneans, do not ever feel that you HAVE to buy
something when an item is suggested as a solution to a problem.
I know that the silicone Food Loops aren't cheap, but they are
a good quality KITCHEN product that shouldn't ever perish like
elastic bands do they are adjustable easy
Just wanted to let you know, that I did receive 2 lovely cards with lace early
in
December. Jane sent a pretty Battenberg lace and Debbie made a lovely Torchon
tree
bookmark for me. They are both precious to me.
I have to confess, that due to a lot to do in December and then the sudden
Also, please don't forget that rubber bands tend to melt over time..at
least in Malta they do...probably it's the heat that does it. I had some
lovely gold thread stashed away and it was tied with a rubber band to keep
it from unravelling. When I came to use it, I found the rubber band melted
A reply by another Arachnean about bundling has led me in another direction,
chasing a different rabbit. Does anyone have a successful way of fastening
Honiton bobbins while traveling? Everything I've tried has failed, I think
because there isn't any waist on the bobbins. I have tried to use
Help.!

Hello Carolyn
Have you tried jewellers' pins?
They are two-pronged pins that you use to secure each individual bobbin
with.
On Honitons you could put them just past the head on the neck of the bobbin.
I have found them very good for this purpose and they are not expensive.
Have a look on ebay
lacemakers
To anchor my Honiton bobbins, I use 1 inch wide elastic like you would put
into slacks or pajama pants. I have sections cut in 7 or 8 inch lengths and
some a bit longer. The rubberish feel of the elastic seems to cling to the
wood bobbins pretty well. I insert a lot of pins to hold
Another option for fastening down renegade honiton bobbins(and works for
other types) in travel is to lay a sheet of that non-skid shelf liner under
the bobbins, take ribbon and weave around the necks and pin around each one,
lay the other half of the sheet of non-skid over top all the bobbins and
I always use curtain tape on mine, I've always referred to it as dainty but
I don't know what its proper name is (think its the thinnest you can get).
The bobbins fit into each loop that the curtain hook would fit and then I
pin the tape down every so often when I'm travelling/moving my pillow.
Hi Carolyn and everyone
Your 'rabbit' is fascinating - honitons do require special attention. To add
to the many good ideas already - when I have an in-progress honiton pillow
'to go' I first pin a strip of fabric, that I've hemmed for the purpose,
across the threads themselves. The pins are
Does anyone know a place where it is possible to purchase a traditional
Spanish lace pillow, stuffed with rye straw, and the stand, as is shown in the
first picture on Antje Gonzalez's web site

She has directions for making a pillow, but they start
Hello Spiders
Some days ago I promised to be busy with something more interesting. I took
me several weeks of research, rework and other preparations. But at last the
BobbinWork project is published as open source software. That means further
development no longer depends solely on my spare time

That's what I do - using cotton curtain lining tape - it has a single

OK. This one had pictures, originally. A photo of a doctor, bending
over an old man in a hospital bed, aphoto of a young, pregnant woman
standing on the beach etc. Well-chosen, perhaps, but a waste of KBs all
the same, IMO. So words is all I'm sending and hope you'll enjoy the
story even
It's funny/strange, how certain subjects seem to come up all at once,
in a herd, then subside for months at a time; here's another one about
a married couple. Though there are some vital differences as well (one
being that, while the earlier joke was a new one to me, this one is on
its second
