One thing no-one has mentioned is that out-of-print books aren't the only
good and interesting books available. No-one has mentioned the current
excellent books which are currently in print and earning a tiny amount of
royalties for the authors, many of whom are on Arachne.

And with my Lace Guild hat firmly in lace, don't forget that The Lace Guild has
all of those out of print books in the library, along with all the new ones,
(and ones you have never even heard of) and that they are available for loan to
UK members. One of the best reasons to belong to the
Jacquie has mentioned The Lace Guild's library, - other lace
organisations including IOLI have libraries from which their members can
borrow, so I would recommend new lacemakers join their national lace
organisation - you will then not only have access to the library, but
also receive that
Hello All
I've been catching up reading the numerous comments regarding publishing and
the trials of getting a book into print, both Catherine Barley and Alex
Stillwell have said much that I agree with. One of the reasons I
self-published was to avoid many of the pitfalls of going with a publisher
Reading through what you had written, gave me the impression that this
was not a young man, and doing a Google search has brought up Frank W
Newborn, the son of a Tickhill farmer (there is a very interesting write

had on my website and was surprise to see the silver shuttle he made back in
the day. He was so surprised that he send me an email wanting to know
I was glad to read Jacquie's message that she is happy for the UK Lace

Some years ago I was given a pile of them from someone who was having to
clear out a lot of stuff, and was kind enough to pass them on to me, knowing
they were going to a good home! What a waste
I have to agree with Liz regarding the sharing of information.
Everyone is very concerned about a dying art, on one hand, but then on
the other they are more concerned with how the data is disseminated to
those who are new and more than likely cannot get the books from
normal sources. It would
