Weird one here. My Bering RC3 box has just started behaving very odd when it brings up the ppp link (serial modem). The after the modem wailing finishes there used to be about a seconds' worth of data and then the link would be live. Now I have to wait around 30secs while the modem sporadically

hello out there !! i'm trying to work with an external modem. gone through the config-files for pppd and set everything i need. if i try to start pppd (by hand, with the init-skript) i get an error: "proc file system not mounted" and nothing starts :-( but: the proc-fs IS mounted, an ppp0 ip-
