No I am not. Just have a good memory unclouded by bullshit!
O'Leary built a team from nothing.
We touched glory were truly glorious.
He loves the place and has unfinished business with himself and us.
He went off the tracks when he was given money to spend that was daft money
he got that twerp

My overriding memory of O'Deary is him sitting on the bench, chin in hands,
looking out at his team of expensive misfits (being played out of position),
and watching it all go wrong, but doing nothing about it - despite a bench full
of players. Added to that, his horribly arrogant attitude -

Let's not get too misty eyed about O'Leary.
Yes, he did really well but don't forget that he had a lot of money to spend
and the youngsters that were coming out of the youth team at the time were a
one off compared to the talent we have available now, none of the current
youngsters (Howson
My memory of DOL was my feeling when he got the job, I thought: WTF!!!
hes never coached anyone and hes X arsenal. This is NOT GOOD.
I then remember that the lesson I learnt is: never judge a change
until its occurred and been given time. You might get surprised.
I rate DOL very high as he gave
As Dr Mike knows, madness is a matter of opinion as to whoever decides what the
norm is!
Whoever comes in will have to be able to work under the constrains of master
bates, so effectively with one hand tied behind their back with their jaw
wired to prevent anything being said that may upset
Misty eyed - I thought it was widespread knowledge that O'Leary didn't have a
clue. He had a good set of youngsters who picked themselves and then when he
had to delve into the transfer market he didn't have a clue. He never knew how
to use substitutions and in general showed he was really

Again - Richard is spot on :) I've never been as
frustrated as watching O'Leary cluless when things were not
going our way. I honestly don't think we have had a more
cluless manager in the post-Wilkinson era. And there are a
few bad ones there mind! I always felt that when DO stood
up and
Richard W is spot on x 2.
My reasons:
- He sanctioned Seth Johnson, Robbie Keane AND Robbie Fowler, neither of which
were required at the time.
- whether it was the book or his babies = their fault transition it seems
players don't take to him.
- Plus, in the now near 12 years since he left,
Wikipedia, the all knowing oracle says that Grayson is officially the 2rd most
successful Leeds Manager behind Revie on win/draw/loss ratio!
Actually he's 3rd as Redfearn has a 100% record.
You can prove anything with stats though, O'Leary is 3rd :)

Agreed Richard, O'Leary would be a bad move. I still think McCarthy is the man
for us but given the Wolves win at the weekend (they were getting tonked until
the sending off) we may need to wait until the end of the season for him, so
the choices are to stick with Redfearn until the end of the
My God, are you lot suffering from Altzheimers? The ONLY reason O'Weary was
successful is that he inherited a youth team who carried him. He had not a clue
tactically, had no idea in the transfer market and had a very inflated view of
his own worth. Clearly not many other clubs buy/bought into
No I suffer from seeing things in more than black or white. I think
its too simplistic to say DOL was lucky cause he inherited it a good
squad and squads run themselves.. If that was the case why would
anybody hire a manager?
Also, the fact that he had good raw material means nothing. I can go
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that DOL's cv is on Bates's desk. He's making
noises ever since he left that there's unfinished business.
The only good thing I could say about DOL is that he did go with the youngsters
whereas someone like George Graham might not have done that. Having said
HA, gotta laugh at everyone claiming DOL was Lucky and clueless, doubt a
single one of you has ever managed to get toilet trained let alone managed a
football team ;)
how could someone who was merely lucky and had no clue, last 4 years as
manager, 50% win ratio, champs league SF etc etc. He
He inherited a solid platform from GG at the back, his ONE stroke of
genius (and luck, they don't come along in their numbers very often) was
to give the youngsters a chance and had a great plan, attack attack
attack. Use your youthful, carefree attitudes to frighten other teams and
have a go,
Brilliant. Same old folk that haven't got a clue.
Where's Humphries. Surely he must be a DOL fan.

Anyone who thought Bates wasn't going to give Redfearn a stab at the job

Given the unrest in the dressing room and the players rallying around Redfearn
