Once again Dave...on behalf I'm sure of all expats, I thank you

[LU] The view from the rattan chair

2018-04-13 Thread Rob Heath
Villa are the most horrible bunch of ridiculous beards and stupid haircuts
I have seen since I last had the misfortune to watch Derby play (although,
disappointingly, WE actually had the worst hairstyle on the pitch!)

The ref was a twatgave everything to Villa and nothing to us.
Only surprise was that he didn't give them a penalty when he had 2 vague
chances to do so.

Sad to see that Snodgrass has turned into a diving, cheating little pillock
who, luckily, can't take a freekick anymore.

Thought Vieira played well.

[LU] Amid the doom & gloom......

2018-04-10 Thread Rob Heath
..I do think that we have been bloody unlucky this season.

I know we've played badly for a lot of the time, but with a bit of luck,
several poor results could have gone the other way, and with better results
would have come more confidence and hence better play.

I have been thinking that we have been hitting the woodwork at crucial
times this year much more than the law of averages would
dictate.and I've just seen that some statto has said that Saiz &
Leslogger have each hit the woodwork 4 times. and they are joint top in the
league. Two players from the same club have hit the post more than any one
player from another club? That is incredible.

Plus, a lot of those incidents were pivotal.

Apparently, Alioski's header on sat wouldn't have counted anyway, b/c the
flag was up, but Saiz's freekickthat would have been 2 extra
points right there. I recall Roofe hitting the bar in the 0-0 with Forest.
2 more points. And leslogger hitting the bar at 1-1 in one of those games
where we collapsed in the last 15 mins, but if we'd gone 2-1 up...?

And then there are the penalties, or rather the lack of them. How many have
we had all season? I think I remember Pablo scoring one or maybe two, and
there was that dreadful one he missed in the last minute of one match, but
apart from that?

Clutching at straws? Maybe.

[LU] Saiz

2018-03-07 Thread Rob Heath
Big game for Saiz, tonight, I reckon.

I read on one of those moronic clickbait sites today an article: 5 reasons
why Leeds should sell Saiz in the summer. I started out reading it
scoffingly, but ended up thinking that actually they've got a point.

Obviously, us losing all 6 games of his suspension made him look
indispensable, but is he really that valuable?

As our resident sage RW pointed out quite correctly last week, he is
obviously a pretty repulsive twat personally. He is also extremely
volatile. It would be great tonight if we had a ref who recognised that
every team in this league has figured out that the way to stop him is to do
Mourinho-style take-it-in-turns fouling. But we will probably have another
bonehead who won't even notice. So will Saiz end up with yet another yellow
card received after he himself was fouled..or worse, a red?

Another thing is that I have a feeling the other players all become a bit
jittery (as if they weren't bloody jittery enough already after our recent
results) due to Saiz's intensity and obvious frustration. I was over for
the Forest match, when Saiz was very impressive, but I felt the rest of the
team was slightly intimidated by him. Roofe's chance, set up by Saiz after
a brilliant run, and smacked against the bar when he should have scored,
was a case in point.

TBH, SS was about as rubbish as everybody else up at Boro.

I hope he is brilliant and scores and leads us to victory
tonightbut if he isn't...???!!!

Re: [LU] 3 nil defeat

2018-03-03 Thread Rob Heath
Richard WalkerI've been reading your analyses on here for
40 years, so I like to think I've got the measure of your methods. You are
unquestionably right in your judgements of players 99% of the
timeor I should say right-ish. The problem is, everything is
completely black-or-white. You make the point
yourself..midfielders are either as good as Batty, or they're
"shite". You don't seem to notice that we are now playing in the Second
Division. The magnificent and peerless David Batty was playing for teams at
the top of Division One, and for England in the World Cup. If a clone of
David Batty appeared now, is there any chance he would play for us at the
moment? Second Division midfielders are really good footballers, but they
tend to have flaws, such as inconsistency, one-footedness, a lack of
composure at times, or whatever.

You claim to give players 4-5 games before judging themI'm not
sure that's true. If they are young, white and local, you'll give 'em that.
If they are foreign (or worst of all have a slightly exotic name) you'll
give them 1-2 games before deliberately mis-spelling their name, calling
them a Kraut or suchlike, and telling us that they are "shite."

Rick Duniecyour analysis of the Cantona Debacle is superb. I
have been agonising over it for all these years, but I never thought of it
like that before. Thank you. "*Stories of magic are a right bastard when
it’s your porridge that somebody else is eating - with obvious relish." *

It seems like a classic case of paranoid schizophrenia to me. But I am just
a layman. Isn't it a shame that we haven't got, on this list, someone like,

[LU] non LU......well, actually, that's the point......LU (ish)

2017-10-25 Thread Rob Heath
Boys & Girls..

A few months back, I notified this list of the publication of my first
novel. I told you all that there was a little bit of an LUFC connection in
there. I thought that, plus list loyalty, would be enough to persuade you
all to buy it.

However, in the intervening period, I have been surprised to receive a
grand total of ZERO emails telling me how great/funny/fascinating etc the
novel is! I can only assume that NONE of you have bought the bloody thing!

Come on, be honest...put your hand up if you have bought my
novel.

H..just as I thought.

So I'm going to try again:

It is actually *incredibly *LUish! There's a whole chapter (or part of one)
concerning the League Cup semifinal away leg against Forest. Every single
character who had to have their name changed to prevent me being sued (ie
everyone in the book) has been given the name of a Leeds player!

Plus, it is super-footbally all the way through.

Basically, this book will appeal to anybody who...supports LUFC,
likes football, is a teacher (esp. an overseas one), is an expat, has been
to Morocco. How many of those boxes do you tick?

The book as been described by one critic as "James Herriot meets Hunter S.
Thompson." How appealing is that?!

So come on! Buy a copy now.better still, buy 5 and give the
others as xmas presents to anybody you know who also ticks any or all of
those boxes.

(Why this desperate plea? Well, I'm working on the next novel, and I need
good sales to persuade the publisher to give me a decent deal!)

Details: *"A Tangerine Dream" by Rob Heath. *Supposedly available at all
major bookshops (although I couldn't find a single copy in any shop I
looked in during the summer) and deffo on Amazon.

Apologies to anybody annoyed by this message cluttering up your inbox.

[LU] Team v Leicester

2017-10-22 Thread Rob Heath
Fullbacks bit of an issue, with Ayling having played every game so far, I
think, Berardi now suspended, and Blowjob lightweight and crap. He could
play Ayling RB/Anita LB...Anita RB/BJ LB...or A. Youngster
RB/Anita LB.

Otherwise, with the massive game v Sheff U very soon, I would expect
Jansson & Shaughnessy CBs, Klitch & maybe Vieira in CM, Hernandez at 10,
Grot up front and Dallas & Roofe wide. Or Cibicki in any of those forward
slots. Felix the Cat, obvs, will be between the sticks.

Re: [LU] Terrible

2017-10-14 Thread Rob Heath
It wasn't that bad.

Reading are obviously way better than their league position would suggest,
yet even so we all but won thiswe ground out the first 70
mins, then we were just turning the screw (chances starting to come, SS
getting on the ball around the box and starting to produce some magic), and
then the ref gifted them a goal. And even then, we would have got a point
but for the missed pen.

BTWhave to say though, what a beautiful pass that was that put
Barrow in for their goal.

[LU] Saiz!

2017-09-25 Thread Rob Heath
I was quite surprised to see Saiz fail to finish a brilliant move b/c he
didn't want to shoot with his left foot...I would have expected a
Spanish player of his age, and having come through Real Madrid youth, to be
completely two footed.

On the other hand, or foot, or head actually, his cushioned headed pass to
Philips for the 2nd goal was utterly brilliant...the vision,
imagination and execution..all superb.

Re: [LU] Burnley win?

2017-09-20 Thread Rob Heath
I am almost 100% in agreement with Rich. I too did not see the M/wall
match, but last night...well, yeah we didn't have the ball much,
but remember it was our reserves vs 7th in the Prem (mostly reserves) so I
thought we competed well.

One thing I disagree with almost everybody is on Sacko's goal.I'm
sure all Leeds fans like me were thinking "oh gawd where's this going?"
when he was bearing down on goal, but I thought it was a deliberate and
superb finish through the keeper's legs.

One other thing..I was hugely impressed with Shaughnessy. Not only
does he look superbly calm and solid, and seem to read the play very well,
but I think he's shown great character after his disastrous first minute in
a Leeds shirt. He's probably saved us the 9 million quid I think Swansea
were asking for Bartleby.

[LU] Improvement

2017-09-10 Thread Rob Heath
Although there's no doubt that last season was much better in many ways
than many years before it, there were still a number of infuriating things
about it; and one of those things was our performances after international
breaks.

As ever, the break would drag on and on, but all the time I would be
thinking "OK, so we've got this shit-hot coach now in Garry
Monk..everything was a bit rushed in pre-season, but now he's got 2
whole weeks to work his magic on these lads..we've only actually
got 3 or 4 players awayhe's always banging on about the group
and the project and it taking time.well now he's got time."

Result? 4 international breaks..4 post i-b games..points
zero...goals scored zero.

And this season? Well..

[LU] WATCCOE?

2017-09-03 Thread Rob Heath
I've noticed this a couple of times over the last year or
sothere seems to be an office somewhere at the club (or at
Thorp Arch)..wherever they get new signings to sit down and sign
for the press...and there is a graphic behind them which looks like
it is commemorating the very moment our club's history changed forever, ie
Lorimer's goal in Paris and its disallowment.

(See here, eg:
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-fan-power-is-key-to-promotion-says-stuart-dallas-1-8734765
)

If this is true..I LOVE IT! The club should never forget that we
had the greatest glory stolen from us, and we must always strive to right
that wrong, however long it takes and however far away that goal may seem.

Has anybody seen this wall, or office, and can confirm where it is and what
it shows?

[LU] 10s all round!

2017-08-26 Thread Rob Heath
What a performance!

Superb from back to front, and you can tell there's a fantastic team spirit.

My only concern is that Saiz is way too good for this league and I cannot
believe we'll keep him after January. (...or even after this
week!.if Barcelona are smart they'd offer 25 million of their
Neymar money and there's their replacement!)

The only one who would not get a 10 from me would be
Christiansen.and he'd get a 12!

Re: [LU] FW: Philips

2017-08-19 Thread Rob Heath
It *was *a thoroughly excellent performance and a massive victory, but
let's face it.Sunderland were abject rubbish. Are they just
crap, or did we make them look bad? Given their previous results, you have
to think it was the latter.

That was the first time I've seen us play this seasonwow, what
a player Saiz is!

But my hero from that match was Liam Cooper...apart from his
astonishing, match-changing goalline save, he was superb throughout. I
think he is showing excellent character to be playing so well after the
toll last season's events must have taken on his confidence.

Re: [LU] Bye bye Bridcutt ?

2017-08-07 Thread Rob Heath
Missed the match as it EXACTLY (Infuriatingly) coincided with my journey to
Heathrow.

Heartened by 3 away goals and 3 away points though.

Best thing for me was an entry on the BBC "live" (but actually virtually
dead) update page...10 mins from the end, it said something
like: " Leeds are controlling the game well, keeping the ball and pinning
Bolton in their own half." With a 3-2 lead with 15 to go in just about
every recent season (and especially under Monk), we would have sat back and
allowed them to pour balls into our box. In fact that was about the only
real improvement last yearwhen that happened, Bartley & Jansson
usually dealt with it all, but not without alarums.

The only thing I know about Deal is I knew a lad on my Geography course at

He liked to sing , before going out of an evening, a nice little hometown

take the title. Personally, my order of preference is
Stan.Thiem.Nadal.the Scottish Curmudgeon.

I did indeed love good old "Come on" Tim. Winning is not everything in
sport, although it's amazing how many people watch or play sport yet don't
know that.

You're going to think I'm being deliberately contrary, but I have to say
that I cannot warm to Murray.

I used to despise him with a passionafter he single handedly won us
the Davis Cup I tried hard to like him, but I just can't.

For some reason, style is SO important in tennis. Murray is undoubtedly a
impressively effective player who yes does play some great shots, and yes
he's a fantastic competitor but he's got none of the style or charisma of,
as a perfect example, these two fabulous players who are on court
nowMonfils and Wawrinka.

Dear Mr. Holier-than-thou,

Thanks so much for pointing out the terrible intolerance and inhumanity of
my behaviour towards another person which I displayed at the weekend.

It is to saintly people like you that we weak and thoughtless folk owe a
massive debt of gratitude.

P.S. I notice that your name is Graham Thirkill. Are you by any chance
related to the Graham Thirkill on whose "circulation list" I was
inadvertently added a few years ago? I don't think you can be, because this
person was sending out a series of sexist, nationalist, intolerant "jokes"
which were surely gleaned from the Daily Mail or the UKIP newsletter.

We do not want to be lectured about "terrorism" and "security" from an
Israeli, thank you very much.

It is so easy to light some candles, give some blood and mutter about evil
deranged muslims.doesn't anybody ever ask themselves what
islamic terrorism is REALLY about?

It all stems from something that was written in a letter on 2 November 1917
(no, I'm not that fanaticalI just looked it up!) The Balfour
Declarationthat, compounded by the unspeakable evil of the
nazis, has led us to where we are today.

And btw..what an outrageous piece of cynicism for May to now
declare a nationwide state of emergency. Blatantly using those dead kids to
further her message about the need for "Strong & Stable" leadership.

2017-05-18 Thread Rob Heath
Despise both, but I just about wanted the Wendies to win last night just to
shut that arrogant prig Wagtail the fuck up.

But still..v happy that Forsetieri missed the last pen. Still
haven't forgiven him for his remarks about Leeds when he signed for
them.or for his role in that non-given goal down there 2 yrs
ago..karma!

But what about the famous super-striker Jordan Rhodes? how much did they
pay for him..and he didn't even step up to take a pen in their
most important game ever?

MARCHING ON TOGETHER

Re: [LU] 7 matches left

2017-04-03 Thread Rob Heath
If we make the playoffs, I am cautiously optimistic.

I have read comments on various fora about how, historically, once we get
into a "last 4" situation, we never end up winners. However, there are a
number of ways to look at that, not just the "we never do well" approach.

1) The "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern" scenario: if a tossed coin has come
down tails 99 times out of 99, the odds of it coming down tails the 100th
time are still even.

Or are they?

2) If the odds are that 100 tosses will yield 50 tails and 50 heads, then
if there has been no heads in 99 attempts, then the chances of the 100th
being heads are greater.

Or..if you accept that any football club will triumph
occasionally in "last 4" situations, with a probability of perhaps 3 out of
10, then the fact that Leeds have failed in their last 7 (I believe that's
the count) attempts just makes it more likely that we'll succeed this time.

Specifically, I reckon we could get past Reading in a two-legger. I didn't
think we played that badly on saturday. Their goal was a brilliant shot
from Cormorant or whatever he's called...it was way above 2nd Div
quality. I know they had a few other chances, but somehow I never felt
worried by them. If it hadn't been for that one great shot, I think we'd
have got a nice 0-0 out of it. Even with that shot, we still beat them 2-1
on aggregate. I doubt very much if Termite-ant, or whatever he is called,
can produce another shot like that. Then a final v Udders or Fulham? I
would have been very pessimistic about beating the dog botherers a few
weeks ago, but if they continue their recent wobble, they are going to be
getatable. Ditto Fulham, or even Wendiesthey've looked more
vulnerable in recent weeks.

Of course, that is all IF we can get into the bloody playoffs!

I know results went brilliantly for us last weekend, but I notice that
before we take the field on Saturday, the 3 teams above us are all playing
at home vs the teams in positions 21, 22 & 23. Maybe one of 'em might be
desperate enough to manage to pull off a shock result, or at least grind
out a draw, but that's probably the most we can hope for.

[LU] Fantastic win, but...........

2017-03-18 Thread Rob Heath
The Pontus situation sounds more than a bit iffy.

I've had a feeling all along that he was too good to be true. Why were
Torino happy to get rid? I think he himself has said that he had a bad knee
injury which they didn't think he'd come back from. But could it be some
character flaw?

I thought Cooper played OK yesterday, and I think he's had some great
moments over the years, but I think we are diminished without Jansson.

At the same time, though, I am pleased for Cooper. I think he's kept his
head down and worked hard without making a big fuss like Bamba obviously
did, and I'm glad he's getting a chance now.

[LU] The world HAS gone mad!

2017-03-04 Thread Rob Heath
OKthese 3 things are seemingly insane, but I suppose they could be
explained away:
1. The population of Britain has been transmogrified into lemmings, and we
are all merrily tearing towards the cliff-edge of leaving the EU.
2. The population of the USA has proven itself to be even more stupid than
the world thought they were.
3. Men all over the world have suddenly been consumed by the
misapprehension that growing a ridiculous beard and then shaving the sides
and back of their head makes them look cool, whereas in fact it just makes
them look like complete tossers.

But how do you explain this:
Leeds are sitting comfortably in 4th place (and the teams at # 2 and #3 are
playing each other today)
We are on a run of 10 pts from the last 12
We've just won 3-1 away from home
That win included a (possibly) brilliant finish from our CF (who is the
league's top scorer)..a superbly-worked team goal...and a
cracking first ever LUFC goal from an exciting young Spanish winger.
Yet I cannot overcome a feeling of worry and dissatisfaction!

How can everything seem so great, and yet we seem incapable of stringing
more than 2 passes together?
How can watching us win 3-1 away be such an uncomfortable and (largely)
joyless experience?
Has football suddenly been infected by Trumpism, in that, just as the more
repugnant and offensive Trump becomes, the more he seems to be popular, so
the worse Leeds seem to playe, the better become our results?

I suppose the bottom line, as I've said on here before, is that Monk seems
to have transformed us from a team that sometimes played some really nice
stuff but usually lost, into a team that nearly always plays awfully but
usually somehow manages to win.

And that after 50 years of watching, it looks like I know nothing about how
football works (or politics, or men's hair fashions, for that matter!)

[LU] Piss

2017-02-28 Thread Rob Heath
The offence would have carried an automatic three-match suspension, but
Robinson is now clear to play and available for selection when Blues host
his former club, promotion-chasing Leeds United, at St. Andrew's on Friday.

I can just see the scene at the Football League hearing now:

ROBINSON: I think the red card was unjustified and I would like it
rescinded please.
FL SUIT #1: But according to the referee's report, you grappled your
opponent to the floor, then pulled out a dagger that you had hidden in your
shorts, stabbed him three times, then ran over to a spot behind the goal
where you had previously secreted a hand grenade, pulled the pin and threw
it into the opposition dugout, killing 4 and seriously wounded 20 others,
including spectators.
FL SUIT #2: I think the referee was justified, in those circumstances, to
issue a red card, and I therefore uphold the 3 match -
FL SUIT #3 (whispering): Hang on. Their next match is against Leeds, and if
you've seen the table, Leeds are looking worryingly like they might
actually be getting their act together finally!
FL SUIT #2: Ahem.er, rather,em..well, I think this was just
a case of natural exuberance in the heat of a tense struggle...I
don't think there was any serious intent to er...yes, no I think we
can definitely say that the defendant is not guilty and the ban and red
card are overturned.
ALL FL SUITS: Excellentvery goodabsolutely.etc
etc.lunchtime, I thinkI hear there is a particularly
fine claret today.
FL SUIT #2 (as he waddles out of the room): Don't you think we should have
deducted a few points off Leeds for that offence?

Not sure...the name came into my head when we first signed him, and

then might make it unscathed all the way through the putative playoffs) and
Pontus is on 13 (probably needs to do some judicious kicking the ball away

Isn't there some cutoff date for accumulated yellows near the end of the

[LU] Worried about the yokels

2017-02-14 Thread Rob Heath
Good win last night, but a bit disappointing that almost all the other
results did not help us, with several late goals going in which cost us
dearly.

I must admit I am getting a bit worried about our friends from the rural
southeast. Ipswich are suddenly playing really well. Apparently it is
largely to do with Diagoraga, which is annoying. Luckily, their top scorer
is suspended for Sat. Have we included a cannot-play-against-parent-club
clause for Diagonal? No, I thought not. It is going to be a tough match.

I have often said that the cliche that "the table doesn't
lie..everybody plays everybody else by the end of the season" is
totally erroneous. There is a huge element of luck in WHEN you get to play
teams..and of course it is my belief that Leeds are always on
the wrong end of that, and always get to play teams when they are on an
upsurge. Cardiff & Briizzle were both cases in point, as I fear are Ipswich.

And then there's Norwich...looking world beaters all of a sudden.
Our penultimate game at home v them is going to be HUGE.

[LU] Monk selection dilemma

2017-02-10 Thread Rob Heath
Interesting to see the lineup this aft.

1. Left back.haven't read that Taylor is fit yet, so this may
not be an issue..but when he is, does he come straight back in?
Berardi was at fault during the buildup to Udders first goal, but
thereafter was probably our best defender. But Taylor surely provides more
going forward.

2. CM. It was hard to tell specific personnel on my blurry stream, but I
got the impression that Bridcutt had a particularly shaky game last week.
Nevertheless, i am sure he will continue there if fit (and hopefully that
was just a blip..I can't get over a lingering worry about why
successive Scumderland managers refused pointblank to pick him even though
they were shit at the time)...anyway, the question is: who should
partner him? Philips seems to have dropped down the pecking order, so it is
between Vieira & O'Kane.

3. The 3 who play across the line behind Wood. Here the possibilities are
many. Presumably, Hernandez will play, if only for his corners, even though
he had a poor game last week, but who flanks him out of The Duke, Dallas,
Roofe, Pedraza & Barrow? I have a hunch it will be Pedraza & Roofe.

[LU] Some stats

In a few idle moments, I looked up the points totals achieved by the 6th
place team over the last 11 seasons.

They were: 74 78 72 68 75 75 70 74 70 75 75.

That gives an average of 73.2.

We are currently on 54, with 8 home and 8 away games left.

The home games are v Cardiff, Brizzle, Weds, QPR, Brighton, PNE, Wolves &
Norwich.

If we can keep up our splendid form at Elland Roadit could be

[LU] Leeds 1 (Giles) Forest 0

2017-01-24 Thread Rob Heath
Playing Forest under the lights takes me back to one of the great nights of
my life.

1969. We had just won the league for the first time in our history with a
brilliant 0-0 draw at Anfield, and we had one game left v Forest at home. I
think the Anfield game was on the Monday and the Forest game just 2 days
later (that's how they did things in those days).although we were
already champions, 2 (yes,2!) points for a win against Forest would give us
a record number of points in a season.

And we did it, thanks to a goal by Johnny Giles, and I was there to see it.

I vaguely recall the goalI think it was an awkward cross from
the left which Giles managed to bring down in a crowded box and then hit on
the half volley into the top left hand corner.I ought to know
because I had a picture of him scoring it cut out from the YP in my
scrapbook and I must have looked at it a thousand times.
(Youngsters.that's what we did before the internet came along!)

After the game, the team paraded the trophy around a jam-packed Elland
Road.

It was a pretty crap game, but a fantastic night!

Were any other listers there that night?

P.S. I think that record still holds as the highest total until they
brought in 3 pts for a win.

P.P.S. Or perhaps it doesn'tnow I come to think of it I seem to
remember getting very cross when it was beatenpossibly by Clough's
Forest, ironically.

Re: [LU] Barnsley

2017-01-21 Thread Rob Heath
Disappointing game, but hopefully only a blip.

The whole team were just a bit flatwe were all 5s and 6s I
would say. There weren't really any 4s or 3s, but equally no 7s or 8s.
Hernandes might have been a 4 but he went up to a 5 with his deadball
deliveries, and Bartley might just have been a 7, as I suppose Wood has to
be with 2 goals.

Anyway, the thing is...I think a top 2 finish is now out of the
question. So now the only thing that matters is to stay in the top
6.doesn't matter whether it is at 3 or at 6. So Derby beating
Reading, which I at first thought was a good thing, was actually a bad
thing. Derby, Barnsley, Fulham & NorwichI reckon those are the
4 clubs we need to keep ahead of.

We're 5 pts ahead of Derby, and 7 ahead of Barnsley.

Anybody know what is the avge number of pts needed to finish 6th over the
last 10 years or so?

I could be wrong, but I think The Don tried an early version of squad
rotation and it badly misfiredI've a feeling he put some kid in
goal (John Shaw?) who never played again.

I think it was in a penalty shootout, for England v Argen - or perhaps not.

Re: [LU] Derby

2017-01-13 Thread Rob Heath
I was just thinking this after the FA Cup match..one fantastic
change Monk has effected is that we are now a team who scores from corners
whereas we used to be a team who concedes from them.

I'd love to see our stats over the last 10 yrs for goals scored from
corners and wide freekicks vs goals conceded...then compare that
stat for this season. My guess would be the 2 stats would be something like
3 - 20 and now maybe 6 - 1.

[LU] Pontus

2017-01-10 Thread Rob Heath
I know it is sacreligious to do so, but nevertheless I am going to dare to
criticise Jansson.

We know, from all the interminable gossip about his permanent transfer,
that he has now played 21 games for us. And he's picked up 10 bookings??!!
That is ridiculous!

OK, so bookings are a bit of an occupational hazard for a committed CB, and
I certainly thought that last night's booking was incredibly harsh (wasn't
even a foul in my book), but really10 in 21 games?! How many of
those were stupid, unnecessary cards? I'm pretty sure he got a yellow for
dissent over the non-penalty incident v Newcastle, and I'm sure he must
have got a yellow for launching hissen into the crowd after scoring at
Norwich.

Now he's going to miss the game v Derby who, guess what, have just signed
Nugent, who always scores against us.

You've retired Dave? Well done!

We, unfortunately, have not. The kickoff time is the same here in Hong
Kong...the difference is that I will have to climb on my bike and
ride over the mountain to work right after the final whistle sounds!

Whoa! Why did you have to drag that one up?

I wouldn't be surprised if a super-motivated Div 4 team playing in front of
the tv cameras (probably for the first time in their careers some of 'em)
at home were to beat a pretty-much 2nd string Leeds team
tonight.but if they do, it will be nothing like the devastating
bombshell which that Colchester loss was.

I hope we win tonight for many reasons, but equally it won't be too much of
a disaster if we were to lose.
