There isn't actually any such thing as an Unspecified Source. There is

That question implies that the Source Detail is not the same for every
record, as I was presuming. If it different, you would have to do the

Thank you Jenny. Some of them would be the same, but most are different
and no way to know what page numbers are being referenced without
viewing the detail. I'm going to try Dennis' technique with Access and
see if I can figure it out. But I'll experiment with your scheme

You could also use a SourceWriter template (say, the generic one) and create a
Source Override. That should give you the ability to create a full citation,
short citation, and bibliography (unlike the Basic Source format), although
it's been a long time since I've tried to do that.
Yes, that's another question I have: how often do people use the override?
It's not my first choice if I can help it, but I find myself increasingly
being more of a stickler on my citation format, which leads to using
overrides when no template is quite sufficient. And that begs the question
of
Yes, I think think this is probably what I need to do. Or use the overrides
as Connie suggests.
It's a nit, but I find it highly distracting to view my Master Source List
and see some sources preceded by bullets (SourceWriter) versus no (Basic
Format). That's my real motivation for using one
I only use the override when the template isn't working to my satisfaction
and I plan to publish the source in one of the blogs I write. Otherwise, I
just hold off on the citation until I really need to tweak. Sometimes it
gets tweaked in the Word document.
You could use the basic system,
.Make a few efforts and have great results!
