Hi Cindy,
There's always a learning curve for upgraded software but if you
persist you'll find that Legacy 8 is a lot more than a cosmetic change.
Legacy 8 doesn't often crash but you likely lost your Toolbar
customisation in a crash because some changes are only locked in when you exit.

Jay,
I did a restore. Paul solved the problem saying to check the way the
dates were set. When I loaded the file onto the new computer [nothing like
waiting until the last minute] the date setting in the program was for month,
day, year. I entered everything as day, month, year. Once I
Yes I realize that the size of the pictures are off. But where do I find the
right size and proportion to use? I don't see it in the help file.

I am trying to move my database from FTM to Legacy. The links for images
attached to an individual have transferred fine but links for images
attached to sources don't seem to have transferred.
Any insight or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Legacy User Group guidelines:
Legacy version 8 added a nice pop-up to record source quality. I have figured
out how to use it, but how do I get to print out on a Family Group Sheet, or
other report?
Thanks in advance

Do you mean the new Evidence Analysis feature or the Source Surety which
has been in Legacy for quite a while?
The Source Surety (1 to 4) can be included with sources. Use the Sources
tab and select source surety in the bottom left.
The inclusion of Evidence Analysis (Orig vs Derivative, Prim vs
I was referring to the Evidence Analysis. I think that its a great feature,
and would like to be able to print it out with source citations.

The Dekalb problem can mostly be solved by entering a comma (Dekalb,)
and then Legacy will offer a suggestion, if you then type another
letter the suggestion will get tighter.
If you want what Ancestry does as part of their auto fill I don't
think Legacy will ever do it G I don't like so many
What version of Legacy? I’m guessing 7.5. (Note my recent e-mail.) When you say
the link is missing, do you mean that there is no indication of a picture/media
file for the source, or that it is there with caption and filename, just not
linked to the associated image/document file? If the
Bob,

Just picked up Legacy 8. (Upgraded from TMG4-8, then FH5, then RM6.)
So maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Let's say I want to add a census entry for an individual.
I open his Individual's Information window, and then under Events/Facts, I
click on Add.

Hi Robert,
I'm not experienced with the programs you mention but have you looked at
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/tipsGEDCOMfiles.asp
which has tips on how to export the gedcom from
other programs to import into Legacy?
That may help.
The drop down list in the Add Event dialogue is

It appears that the only “Titles” I have left as facts are the ones with the
tag name “Style.”
I must have created that.
And it appears that every Title tag I had pre-import has now been converted
into an individual custom tag. Rather than just a simply populated Title tag.

Thanks.
It seems to have converted all my Titles, previously entered as Title tags, so
I could add dates and witnesses (TMG), into custom events. 12th Earl of
Norfolk, and several thousand more, have now become custom event tags each

Robert,
You might want to check out a third party software called LTools that helps
to manipulate the ms Access database specifically for Legacy.
Tho' in your case you might have to get a copy of Leg ver 7.5 and load the
gedcom into that first as I dont think the LTools managed Legacy 8 shared
