This might help:
Go to the son's Individual's screen see the down arrow beside the
surname this brings up a list of all surnames in your Legacy program
here you can globally change any surname(s) and/or merge surnames. By
holding down the shift key you can merge many surnames into one.

another idea - import just the tagged folks into a new empty Legacy
Database. Change the surname for those people globally import back
into your main database attach the son (with the new surname) to his
parents if all is well then delete those that you first tagged. Making
sure no tags remain
It took a bit of work but I put the Geo database I have used for years
with all my alterations into Legacy 8, and it works perfectly.
The Geo-base that comes with 8 (you must download) is HUGE and full of
places that you don't want.
I simply removed the new Geo-database and copy-pasted all my
I keep My Documents folder in Dropbox and have for a long time. I want
to add that Legacy 8 installed these folders perfectly in Dropbox/My
Documents/LegacyFamily Tree. Thus I have a constant backup it can be
accessed by all my computers.
Thank you Legacy

The back cover of the New Legacy 8 Manual has all the old beloved
shortcuts listed, which don't work today.
Why??
Why did the Legacy staff not change the back cover?
Are the shortcuts as in V7 going to be brought back??? Can the
ribbon be eliminated??? Don't the designers realize how
I want to use the v7 TYPE Geo Databases.
I have spent time in the past setting up altering (as per Legacy
instructions) the various Geo databases to produce an output that I liked.
I don't like to long spelling of the States and United States for one

Those GeoDatabase files are where you state along several more sets
scattered over the computer.
BUT - they have no relevance to the GeoDatabase Legacy 8 is using. They
appear useless.
Try this - move those files (they are just text) out of the folder say
to your desktop - then open legacy and
did that already - still not the hidden geo base in use by L8

Roxanne -
I wonder if you set Legacy to open the family files on your desktop
rather than the files in Dropbox. Dropbox only knows the files in
it's folders. It can't update files it knows nothing about.
1. In my Dropbox Folder on my C drive, I created a folder named Legacy.
Then I moved my
Cranberry - there is an easier way (I also have been known to scream
when getting caught in the tagging merry-go-round)
easier:
Choose: Name List from the menu
Click: search button at bottom of Name list screen
Choose: show all tagged on (whatever tag number you chose)
On right side: open the
