James,
Although the examples I sent tend to be one source per To Do item, I don't
always do it that way. For example, I've had one To Do item that included
reviewing multiple deed books in one county. I didn't set up a separate item
for each deed book.

Connie,
Thanks a bunch! Those examples are exactly the kind of info. I was
hoping to get back on these questions. It is so much more helpful to
be able to look at real examples too. Pics really are worth 1,000
words.
Someone earlier had said they made a TODO for each source, and your

I'm wondering if there's a more efficient way to manage a research
project with Legacy. Both Legacy and the LUG have pitched the TODOs
for this purpose, and I've been trying to make use of those. There's
two things I'm sort of struggling with:
- How best to enter the information both before and

Whilst I use ToDo's I
MLA = http://www.mla.org/style
So my notes might include something like
Task: Scan indexes for Jane Doe - 1 Jan 2011

Marriage [White]
Probate [Anserchin]
I make Individual TODO's, making use of categories and descriptions,
and use the clipboard as much as possible.

On their way off list. These are Excel 2007 workbooks (.xlsx
extension), and will not open with older versions of Excel. If you
don't have Excel 2007 or newer, let me know and I can convert them.

Just to throw my 2 cents worth in, excel spreadsheets are an invaluable tool.
Gary Minder publishes a great number of spreadsheets on www.censustools.com. In
addition to a number of census checklists he has family group records, cemetery
records, checklists, ship manifests, and research logs.
