Typically I don’t use other people’s trees at all except for maybe a lead. I
never merge trees with my information either. I know about the LDS trees being
suspect, but many on Ancestry.com are as well. I’ve found my well-documented
ancestors on trees where they don’t belong. The only thing
I clicked from their email and it took me to a page to subscribe. Nowhere on
that page could I find a link that would take me back to either their home page
or a list of their holdings.

Hey everyone,
Just a reminder, we'll see you all at today's Google for Genealogists
webinar (2pm EST). www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/webinars.asp. Should be a good

I volunteer at an LDS Family History Center (FHC) in my area. They have the
following databases ** for free ** to any patrons who come in and use the
computers at the FHC.
-- WorldVitalRecords.com
-- Heritage Quest (from ProQuest)
-- Footnote.com
-- Godfrey Memorial Library
-- 19th Century
Thanks. I've never been to an FHC ever, but maybe I should go. My problem
with it is that I have so many different lines to research and I'd have to
print everything out since I don't have a laptop or any other electronic device
to hold all my information. That's why I prefer to do it from
William, Flash drives are very inexpensive these days; even a 2gb one
will work for your travel to a library or FHC; check the sunday sale
papers and I'll bet you can find one under $10. I do prefer to work
at home myself; it's more convenient and I can work in my jammies; but
there is something
Don't they also have a crippled version of Ancestry.com, just for FHC ?

ha ha, Tim, you're so funny! A crippled version? Yep, that's exactly
what it is though. I think they call it 'limited', not crippled
though. I think it's the 'library version' technically but yes, it is
less than what we would like to see. My FHC has a volunteer there 99%

Tim,
The FHC where I volunteer used to have access to Ancestry.com but, as I
understand it, the LDS Family History Library gave it up several years ago.
I never noticed any different between their former subscription and my
personal subscription to Ancestry.
Since the LDS FHC gave up
Many public libraries have access to the library edition of Ancestry,
as well as other genealogy databases such as those published by
ProQuest. I've particularly found HeritageQuest to be of great value
as I can access it with my library card from home for free. My local
library also provides
Changed the subject a bit. Legacy has a site license. The director needs

Legacy is free to use without your personal license.

Hello
I am new to this group and Legacy but not new to Genealogy and now have almost
2000 people in my tree. Like many others I have loved the Generations software
and have nursed it through many versions of Windows (now Windows 7) and it is
no longer reliable enough to not have another
HI
I am new to Legacy - moving over from FTM version 16 - I like this program
but am trying to find some things similar to what I used in FTM. Is there
a way to print reports without any page numbers? FTM, also had a report
called Outline Descendent Tree - non-narative and you could choose any
Hi
I have been a Legacy user since version 2, but I can still recall some of the
issues I had moving my family tree data across to Legacy from another family
tree programme (not Generations).
One of the issues with the Gedcom file format is that there are different
versions of it. The other

I may be expecting too much but it is daunting to think of hand entering the
amount of information that is missing.
Thanks for replying. Barbara

Barbara,
If you still have the generations software and database on the sme computer

I'll add my 2 cents on this topic.
I use all the previously mentioned pay sites and have found good value
in every one of them. They are all sufficiently different that even
when they overlap some I still find value in checking the multiple
