I'm wondering why we're seeing so many. Two thoughts come to mind,
both with a solution.
Scott, I think the problem has been resolved now. Please be patient;
there is a whole group of people who didn't realize the LUG was even
active because nothing was showing up; they only found out via
contentious people on the FS group. It won't go on forever and you
never know - it might be one
If anyone is not seeing their messages come through to their inbox,
rather than send a flurry of test messages to the group, it's best to
contact supp...@legacyfamilytree.com so we can help investigate the
problem.
You're right Scott, it's not fair for everyone to have to have their
mailbox
Scott,
Perhaps someone on the Legacy FS list should tell those users that if they
wish to see if they are getting posts from LUG they should do as Scott says,
show consideration for other users and check the Archives.

Obviously you won't get consensus on this group...but I vote for #3.
Some people take this LUG way too seriously...I bet they were hall
monitors in grammar school. People come and go, have all levels of
experience, and share the use of Legacy. So you get an extra email,
big deal.

Mike, that is a pretty narrow argument. Sure, some people have dial-up
or no Internet at all, and some are running Win3.1, have small discs,
and on and on. We all live with some economic trade offs. But it's
2010 and the norm for computer users is a fairly fast computer and

Hi All,
I joined this group 2 days ago, to learn and improve my knowledge of genealogy
and Legacy in particular. Query DO YOU ALL, capitals intended, think that I
have achieved that goal in the last 48 hours. Nothing I have seen relates to

We've heard many times that this is an
unfriendly LUG, intimidating people and generally causing bad
feelings. I think we'd do better to give a little leeway to our fellow
Legacy users, many of whom are obviously new to Legacy or the LUG (and
may not even know about the archives.) Sending a test
Good point! Haven't heard any questions/answers at all on the LUG,
which again makes me wonder if it's very active.
I have a question, I actually have loads of questions, but in the
interest of simply changing the subject here goes:
How do you handle alternate names? I enter all my alternate

Stick with us Bruce. These last couple of days have been an exception. I
have learnt so much about Legacy just how much the programme has to offer
just by reading the messages over the past two years. My thanks to all who
have taught me so much without my even having asked any questions.
The group was designed for discussion of Legacy Family Tree and the
add-on programs. Not for general genealogy questions.
If you have a question about how to work in Legacy or one of the
add-on programs, fire away - you'll get some great responses from the
helpful group here.
The problem is
Kathy,
I take it that by appropriate place you mean the AKAs ie. the three headed
icon in Family View. I'm not sure that one can call any of these the
preferred, although I guess one can apply this to the first on the list.
Not being LDS myself I have no idea of the search criteria for the NFS,
