Underneath, you'll find another small behavior which, if you attach to the

Hi Robin,
I haven't read the ones you listed, but I highly recommend:

Hi Kristian
I have a project that uses external casts (I plan to use a
stub projector in the end), but when I am trying to test the
project it seems like the projector totally ignores the
external casts. It works fine if I include them in the
projector but then the point of having them
Hi Kristian,
For the external cast question, no, you don't have to have a stub,
though Karina's suggestion is good for other reasons. For a MIAW to
have access to an external cast, it needs to be included in
the stage
movie. It can be external, but the main movie needs to know
Hey Kerry :)
Karina gave you a good answer on protecting the casts. No
further needed, except to emphasize _save a backup_ before
you protect! Once you protect it, that's it. You can't unprotect it.
That's why I like using the publish to shockwave button - your originals
remain intact, and
Hi Tony,
When I click below the last filename in the scrollable field
I get the
error Index out of range! I can understand that.
How can I delete the RETURN after the last filename in the gSoundList?
Try this:
-- Welcome to Director --
myString = 1 RETURN 2 RETURN
put myString
-- 1
2
Off the top of my head..
If you are able to modify the flash movies you're using, create a function
in each that switches it on and off, including the sound and whatever other
stuff you want to de/activate, and call it from Director.
If you can't do that, you might be able to access the sound
If one or the other is not feasable, or you don't have enough time, it might
be quicker to create a loader mc with the on/off function, which will load
your flash swf, set the sound on/off etc. Then you end up with only one
flash cast member within director, which calls up others.
PS:This is

The runMode strings are:

That's D8.5 - MX might be different.
No, it's the same. MX didn't change existing Lingo. Not even line
continuation characters got re-redone this time... ;)
What?? But that means... Old projects could actually be compatible with MX?
We must complain to the manager at once!
^_^

It's worse. Movies made in MX can even be opened and edited in 8.5.1
provided you haven't used the Accessibility or Flash MX Xtras. You

Have you thought of using external DVDs?
You can get a DVD that can hook up to a serial port, and control it via the
DirectComm Xtra (available from DirectXtras).
It's tricky but not impossible - done it in a previous incarnation.

Hey Kerry,
I'm not with Tabuleiro, but I've used the Direct Media Xtra.
I think there's a good reason for the error on the Mac.
Direct Media uses DirectX. Mac doesn't like Intel code ^_^
Sure, but just having the cast member in your cast, causes the alert,
and that shouldn't happen - of
FWIW, I reckon QT has to be the best bet - depending on
quality/codec/windowSize issues. The major hiccup is that you
need to restart your projector after an install. And work
around the flashes.
Well, yes and no... Depending on just how sure you want to be, and who
