Hi All,
Has anybody seen any problems (memory leak specifically) with
xalan/xerces on zLinux (SLES8 SP3)?
If you have, did you find a more stable version of xalan/xerces? What
version was it?
Cheers,

Hi,
I am trying to install SLES8 in an LPAR on a z890.
I got to the point where YAST is started.
I connected to the Linux partition using VNC, chose English as my language and now it
is time to add a dasd volume.
I entered dasd=950 in the DASD parameter field and clicked on Load module.
The
Are you sure that the dasd device is configurated via
HCD and the IOCDS is written correctly?
Try also to see in the HMC if the channel connect to
the CU are toggled ON for the partition!

Thanks for such a quick response. We are currently running HMC level 1.7.3.
What exactly is the Integrated 3270 Console? Is it attached to a controller
or is it emulated somehow?

Hi Peter,
Some time last year, the HMC LIC was upgraded. Two new integrated console

for an ASCII Terminal which Linux may use. If your HMC is at the proper
microcode level you should find this icon by following the
you can look in the CP Planning and Administration manual, and under the

Actually, according to the folks at LSOFT, their software was ported
to Linux, they might be able to confirm that a port was done to what

OK... Your DHCP client is outside the OSA and the server is using one of
the OSA interfaces. That should work.
You mentioned some /var/log/messages earlier. Those must have been in your
server, so you probably have messages indicating that the DHCPDISCOVER
arrived and a DHCPOFFER was sent to
