When print files appear in the printshare, they belong to xgroup,
but they have permissions as 600, instead of our intended 660. In
this printshare, that's important because the files don't go straight
to a printer. Instead, a process picks them up and modifies them.

Hello,
I need to upgrade the Java on my Linux for zSeries to resolve the
vulnerability reported in Sun Alert Id 57591,
http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-26-57591-1
The resolution for this vulnerability is in SDK and JRE 1.4.2_06 and
later. The fix was released on 11/22/2004.
Thanks Alan. So if this particular design characteristic is needed I will
need an external device like DNS round-robin or some form of smart DNS or
content switching. Not VIPA.
Thanks Again,
Al

Ok, I can see that I need to move the s390-tools package from the k series
to the a series. The s390-tools package contains not just zipl, but
dasdfmt, and fdasd as well. These are necessary to format and partition new
DASD volumes later on.
You can either re-do the install, making sure to
As Alan mentioned, VIPA won't accomplish this. But, there are Open Source
packages that will allow you to set up a High Availability (HA) cluster with
your Linux/390 guests. Tivoli Systems Automation will certainly do the job,
but at a much, much higher cost.
