not likely, since an udp file-transfer program would have to implement its

Hi Linux-il list,
How do applications pass strings to the window manager for display in the
window banner?
Besides specifying a font with Hebrew support in my .vtwmrc file, what do
I need to do in order to see Hebrew characters and not in window
banners.
TIA,

Hello,
I've been offered an HP laptop for a good price and when I called HP
Israel to ask
about Linux support they told me that HP does not support Linux on ANY
laptop
of theirs. At least in Israel.
That doesn't quite fit what I see in http://tinyurl.com/26yeb, which

That's the strange thing - their web site claims that they DO support
some models,
but the people in Israel say they won't.

I tried following the instructions on the list's web page, tried emailing the

Is there some special way to do it?

Hi,
If you're looking for official Linux support on HP laptops, then forget it -
here and in US (unless of-course you're a big HP customer which orders 500+
machines from them). Same deal with IBM (go find official support for their
ACPI, etc)...

I wasn't there. Maybe it's why my PHP works great with Apache 2.x
I use RH, and all new versions (9, and FC1) are shipped with Apache 2.x and
PHP, which works like a charm.
Squirrellmail did the job for me, on an Apache 2.X server.

Hi,
Most of HP's laptops support Linux without any problems, with the
possible exception of the HSF modem that most of their models have.
Also, look out for poorly supported video cards. My Presario has an ATI
IGP-340 video card, with poor to no support for the S-VHS port in X

What other options do I have?

You could do it quite easilly. Use:
/sbin/mkfs.vfat /dev/hd**
(You should use the right letter and number for the extra partition).
Afterwards, using fdisk, make this partition active. If you do so, Windows
(assuming it's either XP or 2k) will reffer to it as C:, and you could
install it there.

Quite simple, even though I like to use GUI tools I am used to the lpc
command. With it, in LPRng, I can open/close both the input to the queue
