Have you tried simply creating a new user, then logging in as that user from

Hi,
We have a LTSP 4.2 server running on CentOS (free RedHat clone),
running bunch of kiosks. I'm trying to rebuild the LTSP server on
faster hardware but its being a bit of a pain, as the guy who built
the original server didn't document anything at all. I've set up ltsp,
dhcpd, nfs, ypserv, gdm,
I think you should look into using FreeNX server for your sessions over
T1. You'll need to boot some sort of minimal local operating system
(using LTSP, a live cd, a usb stick, or something else), then load the
NX Client and run all the applications on the remote server.

I've tried to follow this guide to get LTSP to boot from a USB Flash Drive, but
with no sucess:

I am in need of some guidance and was hoping someone could give me some insight
on how to accomplish this.

I have spent time reviewing forums and reading the Edubuntu Handbook. I
decided to try disabling SOUND in the lts.conf file. This lead me to
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc.lts.conf. This existing lts.conf file has very
little in it.
There, I found comments that suggest creating a lts.conf file in

Using Gusty 7.10 and LTSP 5.0.39. Would running
ltsp-update-image while clients are up and running
cause any problems?

Looked over the directory structure in the tftp directory compared to
what was setup in the ltsp directory.
Found some differences.
Copied over a directory called 2.6.17.80ltsp-1 which contained all the
needed files in proper placement to tftp under the same original name.
Adjusted some conf fi

I don't have much experience w/ LTSP 5, but in 4.2 the lts.conf file
controls mostly X-related stuff. The top of the file contains defaults,
and down below you can specify per-client options like Jim Kronebusch
described. The per-client options can done by either MAC address or by
hostname.

Just to let you know that we did manage to get it working with LTSP 4.2.
Instructions are following soon.

Thanks to IRC the parts are starting to come into view:
/opt/ltsp/i386/usr/lib/ltsp/configure-x.sh
$ /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/bin/getltscfg -c lts.conf -a
LTSP_VERSION="5.0.39"
XF86CONFIG_FILE="foo"
export LTSP_VERSION

Adam,
I don't know the answer to your question. But if you don't get an
answer on this list, you can also try the K12LTSP list. There are quite
a few Edubuntu users/experimenters on there.

Add some IDE-to-PCI controlers to your PC and connect your drives.
Configure Logical Volume Manager (LVM).
