*SOLVED*
Got the video display not coming up on five client machines resolved.
In the /tftpboot/ltsp/[arch}/pxelinux.cfg/default file
Removed the 'quiet' & added 'nomodeset'.
For completeness these machines are 8-10 year old machines cept one is a 3
year old dell Optiplex 780 so a pretty recent m

Sorry for replying to my own post.
After some searching between old working Debian Jessie ltsp server and our
new install Debian Stretch ltsp server , found it seems there are some
missing packages on the server side?
Debian Stretch - ltsp-info --verbose

ALso noting in the lts.conf file i just added the,,, SCREEN_02=shell &
XSERVER=vesa to see if it would remedy no video on non-working clients

installed the i386 client chroot on server just to able to use older
hardwares. This install decided to try amd64. After trying multiple
clients with video not coming up after pxe booting, decided to go back
to i386 cli
