Wait for Angus to have a look... You could try to run latex on 5lyxpreview.tex (what does it look like?) and have a look at 5lyxpreview.log (what does it look like). What happens? Already did. Works perfectly, produces a dvi and has no errors. I did the grep -E 'Preview: [ST]' 5lyxpreview.log
