LyX and the Humanities
Dear all, I am writing a book on LaTeX and LyX in the field of the Humanities. I read the document about LyX and linguistics and also the "HumanitiesLyX" section in the wiki pages; can someone kindly point out any other good article about LyX in the Humanities? Thanks a lot! LyX-doc "EmbeddedObjects" not compiling
Dear Helpers, Today I tried to make a pdf or dvi from the LyX Help doc/de "EmbeddedObjects", but it stops with LaTeX errors at the floating table 22 before the section head 2.12.3. I report the first LaTeX errors below. I am completely at a loss with this fact. I wanted to have the EmbeddedObjects.lyx as pdf for better being able to study it… Any advice/hint, what's going wrong and/or the way out? joachim -- Mac BacicTeX 2009 - TeXShop 2.29 / TeXworks 0.2.3 LyX 1.6.5 - MacBook Pro intel OSX 10.4.11 Tiger ---the first LaTeX Warnings LaTeX Warning: Command \textasciitilde invalid in math mode on input line 2152. I don't know of any, but there are plenty of humanists around the list if you need to ask questions. E.g., I'm a philosopher, and I know of two others who regularly contribute to the list. rh
Re: LyX and the Humanities
At least some areas of linguistics could be placed in the humanities, so you might want to check out http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/LinguistLyX. lyx 1.6.5 for linux 64
Where can I find lyx 1.6.5 for linux 64, preferably as a .deb package? Kubuntu only sports 1.6.4 Thanks, EK
Re: I surely do wish I could use aspell directly on a *.lyx file...
It would appear that on Jan 15, Helge Hafting did say: > Very good explanation - could you file in the bug tracker, where the > developers will find it? URL: > http://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/BugTrackerHome OK! Just did that. was going to paste the the ticket number here but I forgot that nowadays a write to vim's internal buffer tends to overwrite the mouse based clipboard. And I made the mistake of trimming down the excessive quoted material with dd before middle clicking in insert mode. And right now I don't have time to go search for it... Got things to do before my lady gets home Bye! But in any case, it's in there somewhere. -- | --- ___ | <0> <-> Joe (theWordy) Philbrook | ^ J(tWdy)P |~\___/~ <>
LyX version control with git
Hi, as of version 1.6.4, LyX has a pull down menu "File -> Version control", which apparently supports CVS and SVN. Any plans to support git as well ? Thanks ! Christoph Pospiech

Christoph Pospiech Not really I think, but you can define your own commands by using the vc-command lfuns in the stdmenus file. Vincent

As written in the text, the LaTeX-package takes the whole table content as math. \textasciitilde is therefore indeed not correct, it is nevertheless strange that you cannot compile the file due to a warning. I replaced the ~ now with a +, please check if this version: http://www.lyx.org/trac/export/33063/lyx-devel/branches/BRANCH_1_6_X/lib/doc/EmbeddedObjects.lyx works now for you. regards Uwe

But my problem now is that I have an unwanted empty white page after some, but not all, chapters. You have a book class.
