chunk unknown

I am using LyX 2.2.1 under Mac OS 10.10.3.  I recently updated to LyX 2.2.1.  I 
now find that documents produced using Sweave under LyX 2.0.3 produce the 
message “Layout chunk was not found” in 2.0.1 even thought the Sweave module is 
loaded. There is no option for Chunk when I start a new document under 2.0.3, 
even though the Sweave module is loaded.  LyX 2.0.3 continues to work properly 
with Sweave. It seems that 2.2.1 can’t find the Sweave module.

I would be very grateful for help.

This sounds like a failure of the lyx2lyx format conversion. We can try
to fix it, but it is probably easiest for you to convert these
paragraphs to the new insets

There is no option for Chunk when I start a new document under 2.0.3,

properly with Sweave. It seems that 2.2.1 can’t find the Sweave module.

In 2.1.x, the Chunk LAYOUT was replaced by a chunk INSET. You can find
it at Insert> Custom Insets> Chunk. Similarly for the other Sweave-y stuff.

If you use these alot, you might want to bind them to a key. The command
you want to bind is "flex-insert Chunk", etc. For the ones with spaces,
you need to quote the name of the inset.

Goodness gracious. Just put everything in a folder and send that, which is 
precisely what MS Word does without you knowing it.

This is precisely what I was saying.  Rather than have everything hidden in a 
file as MS Word does, simply put the needed graphics files in a folder shared 
with you lyx document.  No special file formats are needed.  I agree, I hate MS 
Word.

and that is precisely what I do not want to know about and I am bothered by :)

Pardon me for jumping in here. I use LyX primarily because it is NOT like MS 
Word or
other WYSIWYG word processors. In which environment I can't keep track of what 
I'm
doing without some feature I don't want automatically messing with what I'm 
doing.

Well that and the way it keeps me from accidentally fat fingering extra spaces 
between
words and a few other such things so that I can concentrate on what I'm writing
instead of how it looks.

Please please please don't make LyX more like Word. Please!

Problem with working directory

Hello--

When I set the working directory to a location where I keep .pdf files for 
figures, LyX cannot find them.  If I set the path explicitly, then all is well. 
 However, this creates problems when I want to share the document with other 
who must revise all pathnames.  Setting the working directory used to work as a 
way to group files that a document needs, but mysteriously, it has stopped 
working.  I would be very grateful for suggestions on how to fix this.  I am 
using LyX 2.0, but I tried 2.03 and it has the same problem.

directory and pathnames to files.  As I understand it, if you set the working 
directory to a folder named, say, /Users/Tom/My_folder, then you can omit the 
full pathnames when you insert graphics, etc.  This is really needed because 
otherwise, it becomes terribly hard to share lyx documents and associated 
graphics files among different users.

When I give the full pathname to graphics files in the Insert Graphics screen, 
all is fine.  But when I set the path to the working directory in preferences 
and the file name in the graphic setting, lyx can't find the file.

I would be very grateful for suggestions on how to fix this.

Many thanks--I eventually figured this out. It is possible to do the working 
directory route as well, but you can't do both--have relative path names in 
directories below the one where the document is stored and the working 
directory set in Preferences.

The working directory is the directory LyX changes to on startup.

The best thing one can do is to place all graphics files in the same directory 
or a sub directory of the referring document. All references should be made 
relative to your document. Then it's easy to share documents with associated 
graphics with other users.

Sweave documents fail to compile under 2.03

Hello--

I have a mysterious problem.  All of the documents that I created including 
Sweave code using lyx 2.0 fail to compile when I use lyx 2.03. I am running lyx 
using Mac OS Lion.  I have several large documents with lots of Sweave code, so 
until I get this worked out, I won't able to upgrade.

Even the most simple Sweave example taken from the Sweave manual fails to run 
under my 2.03 installation, i.e.:

\SweaveOpts{echo=FALSE}   %turns off (FALSE) or on (TRUE) r code in output
\SweaveOpts{keep.source=TRUE}  %leaves comments in r code
\setkeys{Gin}{width=6 in}

The italics are the chunk.

I would be grateful for any ideas about this problem.
