The only way it is unclickable (does this word exist?) is if you are inside
an environment which doesn't allow it. You should be, inside the float, IN
THE SAME LINE as your image. Then it should be allowed.

I believe, dear Andrew, this is philosophical in nature. Lyx is based on
Latex, so text is text, independently of how it looks in a PDF. Text changes
its attributes depending on which environment it is included, information
which I believe, would be impossible to get from a PDF via copy-paste.

Making some text as Bold-Italic-Numbered-Size 14-Roman can be done in Lyx,
but it is much better to say that such text is in a Section environment,
because when changes on the document style are made, you only have to make
them once, and not throughout the document, at every instance of said
format. Finger painting, what you need, is not the way to go in Lyx/Latex.
It should be avoided like the plague.

This is the exact question one should answer before asking why what Andrew
wants is not the best path to follow. Obviously, Andrew's documents follow
some layout specifically designed for some journal, so for him this answer
is straighforward. Nonetheless, for Lyx it doesn't matter, as it will be
impossible to get this information from the PDF.

BTW, Andrew, how did you manage to copy from a PDF and pasting on Abiword
keeping the format? I was curious, so I tried with a simple PDF, but it only
pasted plain text.

Dear Louis. You can perfectly use JabRef for biblatex files. Some fields,
like booktitle can be introduced by hand in the tab Bibtex Source of
each reference. Or you can simply customize entry types to Biblatex format
going to Options - Customize entry types.

Dear Louis, this command is not Biblatex's, but Bibtex's. The style of your
bibliography is defined in the preamble. Check page 2 of the
Biblatex-Chicago manual:

You should also read Biblatex's Manual, as it seems you are not defining in
your preamble the name of your bib file.

Dear Mike, on your first question, you do like you'll do with text. Just put
the cursor on the line where the figure is, and click on the Paragraph
settings button. Select Center for alignment, and voilá.

Dear all. I have just compiled/installed Lyx 2.0 on Ubuntu 11.04. I have
also installed Aspell, but Lyx cannot find it, even after reconfiguration. I
install Enchant and Abiword, just in case, but nothing. Can somebody give me
a tip on the good direction?

Thanks Stephan. I have installed them and recompiled. Everything is working
perfectly now. I was just wondering if a warning should be included at the
end of the ./configure step, just to remind you to include the spell
checker.

BTW, I'm now working on Ubuntu and the jumping spell checker problem hasn't
appeared yet.

Settings - Modules - Theorems (AMS, Numbered by Type).

Hi Solvi. You should start little by little. Try creating a new document
exactly set up as your problematic document. Add only one paragraph to test
it, and compile. If you have some problem, start removing one line at a
time, the packages included in the preamble. Lets see how that goes before
proceeding.

I know it is hard work, but I suspect it has nothing to do with the text
itself, but with latex installation. This is why I suggested doing not a
totally backtrace on your big file, but a controlled test case on a similar
document. Also, as Richard suggested, send the first error you find in the

Hi Solvi. You should start little by little. Try creating a new document
exactly set up as your problematic document. Add only one paragraph to test
it, and compile. If you have some problem, start removing one line at a
time, the packages included in the preamble. Lets see how that goes before

I know it is hard work, but I suspect it has nothing to do with the text
itself, but with latex installation. This is why I suggested doing not a
totally backtrace on your big file, but a controlled test case on a similar
document. Also, as Richard suggested, send the first error you find in the
log for help from the list.

Nonetheless, there is a nagging problem that is more annoying than damaging.
When the on-the-fly spellchecker signals a mistake, sometimes when you
select the correct spelling, the cursor jumps to another instance of the
mistake in the document. It is difficult to pinpoint the cause, as it is not
frequent or predictable. It only happens every now and then. The document
I'm working with is big and has many spelling mistakes (in Spanish). Have
you seen this problem before?

It works, only not it seems not to work with Natbib. From apacite's manual:

I consider natbib as the de facto standard with which other packages should
be compatible.
Unfortunately, apacite is still not entirely compatible with natbib. The
main incompatibility is that
different citation commands are used, so that it is not possible to use the
same document with
natbib or apacite.

Unfortunately, apacite is still not entirely compatible with natbib. The
main incompatibility is that

 Índices are the ordered lists that they can be *inserted* via the *Insert
 menu*,
 and they appear in the output of the document: general de figuras
 alfabético etc.
 This is consistent with the babel translation of list.

 Listas are the other lists in po files that they can't be inserted in the
 document.
 They are used, e.g., in the Outline.

 Therefore, in case of the lists mentioned by Julio, (part of chemical
 class,
 thanks Pavel), probably they are inserted ones.
 (I just know it, I have not used the ACS class, package achemso)

Problem solved. PDFLatex doesn't die after a problematic run due to an
uninstalled package. It was blocking some files which, I guess, needed
to be modified by the Package Manager. After killing PDFLatex
installation run smoothly.

This was an undocumented error as far as I know. I hope this message
will be stored in Google's indexes for all eternity, making
troubleshooting a simpler task. ;)
