No problems here, besides missing used module 'sticker'.

Cannot open document created with current master with alpha3

2021-04-27 Thread Daniel

Hi,

I tried to open a document (attached) created with LyX 2.4 current
master (on a Mac) with LyX 2.4 alpha3 (on Mac and Windows).
Unfortunately, I got an error message and cannot work on the document.
Does someone know what might be causing this?

Re: Update function does not update already open document

2014-08-08 Thread Basma Qazi Chaudhry
Thank you for the tex exchange link here below. I had been trying to use Skim
as well as the mac Previewer app but unsuccessfully as far as the automatic
reloading was concerned ( a more apt search term that I was thus far missing).
Turns out I was missing this bit in Skim which one would have supposed to have
been enabled by default.

http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/manual/SkimHelp_39.html

that is an option to "Automatically update files for external updates."

Re: Update function does not update already open document

2014-08-06 Thread Shay Riggs
Hi Basma,

In my experience, Adobe Reader is almost always the PDF viewer of last
resort when using LyX – on Mac, Windows or Linux.

According to this page:

http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/43057/macosx-pdf-viewer-automatic-reload-on-file-modification

you should be able to just use the default OS X Preview program, but there
are other suggestions in the answers that you could try (e.g. Skim,
TeXShop).

Cheers

Update function does not update already open document

2014-08-06 Thread Basma
Hello LyX people,

I am new user to LyX (2.1.1) on Mavericks, facing a rather basic problem.
I compile using ps2pdf or pdflatex with the PDF opening in the chosen viewer.
If it remains open, any changes are not reflected using the update function.
The generated PDF always needs closing, then viewing again.
The OS default PDF viewer is Adobe which may have been the issue.
I changed it to Skim & Previewer for ps2pdf & pdflatex.
Still no updating.
The non-updating bit applies to other formats as well (tried DVI, EPS).
Successful Preview of format:PDF (ps2pdf) is displayed when viewing.
Successful export to format: PDF (ps2pdf) is displayed for updating.

A log file is available if needs be.

Thanks in advance.

There are known problems with oolatex on Windows, but without more
information it's impossible to say what went wrong. The best suggestion
I can make is to run LyX from a terminal rather than launching it from
the icon or menu. You should get more informative error messages that
way. I don't use Windows, though, so I cannot give you more detailed
instructions how to do that.

export as Open Document

2011-09-24 Thread resetknopf
Hello,

I tried to export a file as an Open Document and got the error message:

An error occurred while running: oolatex "Filename.tex"

Now the error message is not overly descriptive or helpful in figuring out what
the problem might be. All I could find out about this is that the Miktex
program folder contains a file oolatex.exe.

Any suggestions how to solve the problem?
(I appreciate it if you keep your answers understandable and if necessary with
detailed instructions, not like "download ... and set it up in the Lyx
preference menu".)

I installed Lyx 2.0.0 using the Installer Bundle on Windows 7.

Is there a convenient and robust way to go from Lyx to Word?

This is going to depend in part upon your OS. It has been much discussed

See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.general/52630.

There are apparently incorrect paths hardcoded into the version of
TeX4HT that comes with MiKTeX 2.7. I tried hacking the .env file, to no
avail. Andreas Hofer's workaround works for me, though: create
C:\tex4ht\texmf\ and copy the entire tex4ht directory from under MiKTeX
2.7 into that (creating C:\tex4ht\texmf\tex4ht\ and assorted
subdirectories).

We need to know what system you are on. On Linux, the best export is
tex4ht. There is a special script oolatex that creates the .odt file.

I don't know how it works on Windows.

Thank you,

It's basically the same on Windows. You need oolatex.exe and TeX4HT.
Assuming you are using MiKTeX 2.7, you should make sure that the tex4ht
package and the miktex-tex4ht-bin-2.7 package are installed. The MiKTeX
bin directory should also contain oolatex.exe. If it does not, try running

initexmf --mklinks

in a DOS shell and see if that creates oolatex.exe.

There are lots of problems converting to OOo on Windows. This is
because LyX uses the tex4ht package to do that, and there are
problems with tex4ht on Windows. But this has been discussed here
a lot, and some people have found workarounds. If you search the

Yes I have looked at the mailing archive and I could not find
anything. Can you please forward some of them or at least one.

I can only search it like you. I don't have them handy.

Can you try to run LyX from a terminal? You'll get more information that
way. There are a lot of different things that could be going wrong.

If you don't know how to run it from a terminal, someone else on Windows
can probably explain it.
