In Lion, the Save As command has gone. You have to use the Duplicate command
which creates a copy of the file with the word Copy appended to the
filename. You can then change the filename in the Finder.

When I copy text from an email and then paste the text into text edit
it turns out as a paragrapph. This is the way vo reads the text.. I
