Unfortunately, a lot of my e-mail boxes, particularly my Gmail box, are Pop3.
I’m really not comfortable changing that because we’re dealing with some 15

Are you moving InBoxes, or other mailboxes? For InBoxes, when you drop the
dragged item, it always drops below the item you are focused on. For other
mailboxes, they are usually arranged alphabetically within the parent

Yes, I make sure that the mouse cursor is also positioned at the same point as
the VO cursor.

shift-cmd-space if VO keys are locked. I use this in iTunes quite often when
moving playlists into folders. I've also used it to drag things from the
Finder into drop locations in other applications.

I really appreciate this discussion. I just tried locking VO with VO Semicolon
and then using the up and down arrows to move to a given item in a playlist. I
then pressed CMD and SPACE which activated a mouse down. Remember that VO was
already locked.

to clarify, this key combination was the original combination for dragging and
dropping when it was first introduced way back in Leopard or Snow Leopard.
This method also required you to turn off cursor tracking and to do some
careful mouse routing. The cursor tracking part of it is no lo
Try using VO plus semi colon to lock the VO keys. That should help.
Don't forget to unlock the keys again with the same command which is a
toggle.

That is the sticky mouse down or mouse up command, not commonly used.
