Re: iMud (an accessible macOS MUD/MUSH client)

2016-10-13 Thread Tyler Thompson
Short answer: Lua is Lua, never mind the O.S. so it’s possible, but not yet
supported.

Long answer: I’d love to make that work. This is the very reason I’ve reached
out to others, I’d have to build a smart parser to strip away the MUSH-Z added
Lua functions (or hack into the Lua interpreter to add them myself) but it’s
within the realm of possibility. I’d love to support MUSH plugins as well.

Sad to say, no. Calibre worked fine on one title. I tried it on the

more.

By the way the version of Calibre I ran does not need Terminal. I do
need to go tweak the settings to format the txt file though.

Hello Brandt,

There is no shortcut provided for word count in Pages, but it is in the View
menu. When it is shown, you stop interacting with the layout area and do
VO-Right Arrow to find it. It’s a popup button with various options.

Cheers,

Any word on the new MacBooks? Starting to get adverts for cases.

2016-10-13 Thread Scott Granados
Hi all, I received an email from Waterfield designs today about sleeves and
cases for the new MacBooks. For folks who don’t know Gary Waterfield is a
designer of high end leather bags as well as messenger bags, sleeves, wallets
and equipment pouches. I swear by his stuff, it’s all manufactured in San
Francisco and highly rated by the various magazines. Extremely stylish stuff.
Has Apple officially released the specs for the new laptops yet? I
can’t find anything on the Apple store, looks the same to me. Wonder if this
is a sign that the new stuff is near or Gary is just jumping the gun a
little.:) Any info would be most appreciated.

from Amazon to my Mac. So not sure why just one book worked.

Adding file is a typical process. Once I learned that the .azw file

convert it.

What I am running into is the Kindle wizard. It should not be
popping up since I bought only 2 books so far, directly from Amazon.
The wizard deals with content that comes from other sources so should
not apply. I cannot do the 2nd book. When I retyrn to the app, the
status for the 2nd book shows "information is incoeect". Dismissing
the wizard gets me nowhere.

I can open and close either book in the Kindle for Mac app and both
are in the library folder. Will keep working on this.

consistently selecting emoji

2016-10-13 Thread aliFaisal
Hello Everyone,
I have found that the emoji selector in messages and elsewhere are no longer
working consistently like it did in previous operating systems. When I select
the category I want IE people and smily, I can interact with the group.
However, the actual emoji are only sometimes there. Other times, it keeps
saying content is empty. I tried interacting with the selected group, and even
tried pressing VO space on it to insure it is selected but still nothing.
Is there a consistent way to select emoji and inserting them into various text
fields?

Hi Anne,

Command + Shift + W is indicated on the View menu to be the shortcut key, VO
actually say "Show Word count," but nothing happens. However, when going threw
view menu or View menu on the tool bar, the popup shows up with the info I

I think I will get there in the end.

RE: The Twitter for iOS Night Mode Feature is Now Compatible with VoiceOver

2016-10-13 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Jürgen,

The Night Mode is for anyone who prefers white text on a dark background as
opposed to black text on a white background.

There are many of us who are VoiceOver users who also have some vision.

I use VoiceOver 100% of the time while still using what little vision I have to
enjoy photos, videos, movies, etc. I also use my vision to navigate the
device's display, primarily based on color contrasts.

When first introduced, Night Mode could not be enabled when VoiceOver was
enabled.

I don't know why but for some reason, developers don't realize that not all
VoiceOver users are totally blind. As a result, sometimes, they make some
accessibility features mutually exclusive.

Fortunately, Twitter resolved this exclusivity and now I can much more easily
enjoy my Twitter feeds without having to constantly toggle the display invert
color feature.

IN its purist form, the Night Mode is merely a color scheme/theme that reverses
only menu item colors. This has been possible in Windows for over 20 years and
Samsung introduced the feature, a couple of years ago.

Finally, the concepts has made its way to tvOS, as well.

Slowly but surely, developers are beginning to realize that the needs of the
low vision are not necessarily separate from those of the totally blind, just
different.

Mark

Hello Mark,
because I’m not sure if I fully got it a sincere question: in what way is this
feature important to VoiceOver users? Or do you mean for partially sighted Zoom
users?
Thanks and all the best
Jürgen

Hi. This is great news as I’m a low vision user of Voiceover and I do prefer to
have a black background as that is how I have setup my Apple TV 4th gen. I wish
there was a way of seeing accounts that have been put on mute.
