The workaround for this is to try using VueScan which can interface
between your scanner and Abbey Finereader.
Unfortunately even this solution did not work for me as my scanner was
not even supported on VueScan.

Hi,
Kind of a backwards way of doing things, but try this.
• When the message from this person is open.
• Interact with the Message Header area.
• Press cmd-a to select its contents.
• open TextEdit.
• press cmd-shift-t to change the format to Plain text.
• Paste in the results of your copy.

What I’ve done is to click on “main menu”, and then “most recent” and that
seems to have the desired result.
I hope this is what you were looking for.

Hi all, this might sound sort of weird to say but is there any chance of

I was wondering if this could possibly be done through the VO utility, speech

Hello Daniel,
Even at the lowest verbosity setting, VO will still announce Interact with
text. My question is, why not just press enter to open the message?
God bless.

Hi Matthew, well when I press enter I find that I get more text spoken than the
standard VO J keystroke.
To provide an example below on a previous message.

Hi Daniel.
Well, no matter if you set your verbosity to low, medium or high, you're going
to hear at least the subject of the email message when you press enter.
I have never used VO J for reading emails.
I also don't believe there is a way of turning this off in verbosity at all.
Interact with
There is a Custom button in the Verbosity category, but remember that if you
adjust the Interact with Text to remain silent in the mail client the effect
will carry over in to all other apps as well.

- Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence
Hi Matthew, of course that would make sense. Since interact with text is such a
global part of how VO interacts with OS X. So am prepared to accept what you
say.
Thank you though for trying to help. I thought it would be a long shot in
asking but as they say, don't ask, don't get.
Daniel
Hi Alex, didn't know this, will certainly try this out in conjunction with VO J
and see which method I prefer.
Thanks
Daniel

So, enter to open the message, then vo-a to read it. Sometimes Mail will say
the sender's name then scroll area first, and sometimes it doesn't. Either
way, it will read the message text.
