Hi all,
I bought my Mac in 2009, and while I still use Windows for three specific
functions that are not accesible on the MAc, I will give anyone who wants to do
podcasts comparing v o to Jaws or any other Windows screen reader a word of
advice. Give yourself at least two months with the Mac
Hi,
I'm indeed not using windows now. I bought my mac recently. Can you name
certain things you couldn't do on the mac? I am searching for an easy way to
record skypecalls. I looked at callrecorder, but it is not as accessible as i'd
like it to be. I can not hear if something is recorded or
Last time I saw a comparison between Windows and Mac the comparison was screwed
in a very bias way, the presenters had no idea of how to navigate the Mac, what
shortcuts could be used and so on so it wasn't so much as a comparison of
Windows and Mac, more of a Windows is better than Mac because
I don't like comparing Windows with Mac personally but I think you'll find that
windows users are still struggling with the task of recording Skype Calls as
their's no easy out-of-the-box solution for that one whereas with the Mac?
Well the purchase of one piece of software and the writing of a
I think I might do a podcast on how to set up audio highjack pro to record with
skype calls, without any apple scripts required. HAVen't used apple script to
record Skype calls with audio highjack pro, just do it all manually and have
had no problem.

Honestly, this is really common sense advice for using any product you
intend on comparing or reviewing in a podcast. I find it completely
unprofessional and disgraceful when someone attempts to review or compare
products when they clearly have no lengthy familiarity or knowledge of what
Yes the point is taken and I've been doing that however there's no question
that Apple Scripts can certainly enhance the recording of Skype calls ad I ask
you to reference the examples given earlier this week by other list members,
just to summaries here, an Apple Script can start Audio Hijack
Howdy John and good to see you firmly in the saddle smile.
Your points as per usual are well made but even worse than that are those
people who compare let's say apples and oranges however they don't know
everything about the fruit they're comparing but think they do if you get my
drift smile.
The other part of it is when one does put out a podcast or an article that
clearly rings of lack of knowledge, it not only discredits the author/authors,
but, as in the case of the AFB when VoiceOver was released, it reflects on the
publication itself. People naturally assume that there
Thankfully this was done and perhaps the person who did the last video will do
a little more research next time around before doing a Podcast and if he does
then perhaps his work will shine in a favourable light smile.

As someone who has been an accessibility products trainer, I'm of the opinion
that a podcast or tutorial is a form of training session. It would no more be
good practice to present a podcast about material you are unfamiliar with than
it would be to teach someone a product you have very little
When I do a podcast I make sure i learn the product but if there is something I
don't know I admit it and ask and update the podcast and or tutorial. Actually
this is why I cannot do some tutorials on some stuff people have requested as I
am uncomfertable teaching the product of device or I
